So, how did you end up with FunTVTab on your PC?

Let’s first go back to a previous state, where this program was not present on your system. Can you recall, if you have recently installed some software? Most probably it could be free software you have downloaded from the web, or a torrent or a good deal for a free program that promised good functionality. However, shortly after that installation, you have probably noticed that your screen has suddenly started to load small advertisement boxes and short notifications.  And that is not everything. Without your consent, a program now is tracking your online browsing and loading ads and pop-ups every time you try to browse the web. Is this somehow familiar to you? In this case, you should know that your disturbance is caused by a program, which could be classified as adware.

Here is what you should know about adware:

Adware is a term, used to classify a specific type of software that has a certain behavior. It is related to the advertising industry, which wants to display ads and promotional messages to the users’ screens. Therefore, adware developers create pieces of software like FunTVTab to display these ads. The adware sole aim is to generate income to its owners through a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) method. It does it by tracking users’ online searches, collecting data, analyzing it and then, displaying relevant advertisement messages on the screen, hoping that users would click on them. Sometimes, these messages could be very invasive and cause browsing interruptions and irritation. This may probably be the case with FunTVTab .

Adware is usually distributed through other software, where it may be bundled inside the installation wizards that you download. You may find it very funny, but in fact, when you install such software, you give your permission to the adware that is bundled to be installed on your PC.  This happens with the “OK” button you usually click while running the installation process. Adware programs and any other additional applications are normally found in the “Custom” option of the installation package. However, very often users are clueless about it because they skip reading the EULA and proceed directly to the installation. This way they notice the adware only after it has already been installed and has started to disturb them with the constantly appearing ads, short notifications, banners, boxes, pop-ups, and links.

Could FunTVTab bring a potential risk for your safety?

FunTVTab has probably exposed you to the above described annoying adware behavior, therefore, it is understandable that you might be looking for a way to stop it. A reason that may raise your concerns could be the fact that you are not able to remove these ads easily and turn off the adware activity.

Many users are misled by this intrusive behavior into referring to it as a virus infection. However, adware cannot be classified as a virus and we will give you a few major distinctive characteristics. A major thing that distinguishes adware from viruses is that this is a legitimate software product. It has been developed to bring income to its creators through the Pay Per Click (PPC) method and generally cannot do harm to your system.

Malware infections like viruses, Trojan horses or even Ransomware, are extremely dangerous types of infections. They are an illegal form of a cybercrime that can cause severe harm to your system. A Trojan horse, for example, could introduce many malicious programs to your system, while Ransomware could lock all your data forever. Adware, such as FunTVTab , on the other hand, is definitely harmless, compared to these bad guys. However, sometimes it could be quite irritating and disturbing users’ normal browsing activity with its tracking and annoying advertisements, therefore, removing it may be the best salvation from the ads invasion.

How to stay safe in the future?

To keep adware away, you should keep yourself away from suspicious free downloads. This is where adware usually hides the most. Also, work on building some healthy online browsing habits. This may even save you from dangerous malware like Ransomware and Trojans. Invest in good antivirus software, keep it updated and perform regular scans to your machine to ensure a healthy system.

Don’t be lazy when it comes to software installations and carefully read the EULA to know exactly what you are installing. Only install programs from reputable sources and avoid torrents and pirate content. This is the base. Take care and have a safe online experience.
