Having issues with the Internet browser isn’t something unusual as there are many things that can cause your browser to behave oddly. For instance, visiting sites that show too many ads may make your browser run slower, experience freezes and even crashes, not to mention that the ads themselves could be very obstructive and frustrating. Also, if your browser has had a hijacker app added to it, then there will probably also be changes to the search engine service that is set as its default as well as changes to the homepage and the new-tab page addresses. In addition to that, if there’s indeed a hijacker in the browser, the online ads you are seeing will be on every tab and page no matter the address you are currently on. Usually, this type of unwanted applications do not discriminate between most browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, IE and other browser could all get invaded by such an app. In some instances, you may even land a hijacker on a Safari browser if you are a Mac user.

If this happens to your computer and browser, know that your virtual privacy and security isn’t under some serious threat since the hijackers are actually not technically viruses or some other kind of malicious malware. Unlike Spyware, Trojan Horses, Ransomware and other forms of dangerous software, a browser hijacker would mostly an annoyance and not something that would actually harm the computer it’s installed on.

The most probable reason you are on this page, reading our article is one particular browser hijacker app known as If this pesky app is bothering you and making it difficult for you to use your browsing program, we advise you to take a look at the removal guide below and follow the steps provided there. This will allow you to uninstall the unpleasant software and make sure it doesn’t obstruct your browsing activities in the future.

Some dangers you must be aware of

Most software security researchers and experts agree on the sentiment that applications the likes of shouldn’t be allowed to operate in the computer if the machine’s user wants to protect their system against potential online hazards like Trojans and Ransomware cryptoviruses. The reason behind this is the fact that a browser hijacker may not always show you the most reliable of adverts and online offers. It is possible that the pop-ups and the banners as well as the page redirects that you see in your browser may not always be as safe or as reliable as they may seem. After all, the Internet is full of hazardous links and ads and since a hijacker app like would normally not give you much control over what gets advertised on your screen, you just cannot be sure that the commercial messages that get shown in your browser aren’t actually hazardous and linked to unsafe online locations. The best thing to do here is to rid your browser and computer of so as to ensure that no shady content gets displayed while you are browsing.

Type  Browser Hijacker
Danger Level Medium (nowhere near threats like Ransomware, but still a security risk)
Symptoms  You are likely to notice the invasive ads and the changes in your browser as soon as the hijacker gets installed.
Distribution Method The most typical forms of hijacker distribution include spam messaging and adding the unpleasant app to the installer of a more desirable piece of software.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading ComboCleaner to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

The first thing you need to do is to Quit Safari (if it is opened). If you have trouble closing it normally, you may need to Force Quit Safari:

You can choose the Apple menu and click on Force Quit.

Alternatively you can simultaneously press (the Command key situated next to the space bar), Option (the key right next to it) and Escape (the key located at the upper left corner of your keyboard).

If you have done it right a dialog box titled Force Quit Applications will open up.

In this new dialog window select Safari, then press the Force Quit button, then confirm with Force Quit again.

Close the dialog box/window.

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

If you want to avoid the risk, we recommend downloading ComboCleaner
a professional malware removal tool.
