The specifics of the browser hijackers and their annoying page redirects:
The browser hijackers, as we mentioned in the beginning, are special pieces of software, which are created and used for advertising purposes. The apps of this type (such as Search MySearch Virus) typically are responsible for the enforcement of some potentially unwanted changes onto the users’ browsers and this is the reason why they have a reputation of annoying and potentially unwanted software. However, the reason the hijackers install new homepages or search engines on your browser and initiate page redirects and annoying ads generation on your screen is not malicious. It simply that this way, such software tries to promote certain sponsored webpages, ads, new search engines, different tools, software programs, services and products on your screen.
The problem with the hijackers is that with their advertising activity, they may create quite a lot of disturbance and annoyance. Potential inconveniences in the normal web browsing may often happen when the users try to load a specific webpage but actually end up getting redirected to some totally unfamiliar sites. They may also often get exposed to various aggressive ads, pop-ups, and banners, which are difficult to remove. The affected browser may also experience issues such as sluggishness, unresponsiveness and sudden crashes, which may contribute to the decision to uninstall the hijacking software from the machine.

Despite that they, might be promoted as helpful tools. In fact, apps like Search MySearch Virus are hardly ever developed in a way that would actually serve the users. Their main goal is to serve the needs of the advertisers and the marketers who try to promote their items through them. Such pieces of software also tend to generate revenue for their developers through methods like Pay-Per-Click or Pay-Per-View. Therefore, they are usually programmed to display as many ads as possible and make you click on them.
Clicking on randomly generated web content, however, may hide security risks since you never know when you may land on potential virus transmitters. It is a well-known fact that threats such as Trojans and Ransomware often use fake ads, pop-ups and different promotional web pages to get the web users infected. With this in mind, permanently removing the source of the annoying ads and the redirecting activity is a good way of preventing potential exposure to insecure or unreliable web content. You can achieve that by uninstalling the hijacker with the help of the instructions in the Removal Guide below or by scanning your computer with the professional removal tool which is available on this page.
How to prevent potential future page redirects and browser hijacking?
Protecting your computer from browser hijackers is not as challenging as preventing a Ransomware or a Trojan horse infection. However, there are some basic rules which need to be followed if you don’t want programs like Search MySearch Virus to become part of your system and disturb your web browsing in the future. The first and most important thing is to mind your software sources and be very careful where you click and what you install on your PC. Most of the browser hijacking apps get distributed via software bundles, free downloads, automatic installation managers, torrents and email attachments. That’s why, you have to always customize the installation of any new software and carefully read the EULA before you agree on any component or additionally bundled application to become part of your system. Do not fear to use options like Advanced or Manual when installing new software as this is the way to have full control over the setup process and prevent potentially unwanted programs from getting inside your system. Of course, it is mandatory to have reliable antivirus and antimalware software to keep you safe while browsing the Internet so never neglect its importance and invest in good system protection software.
