How irritating is this virus?

This page aims to help you remove Mystart Toolbar “Virus”. These Mystart Toolbar “Virus” removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

If you have recently detected some changes in your browser’s homepage or search engine, intrusive page redirects and sponsored advertisements popping up here and there on your screen, then most probably your Chrome or Firefox has been hijacked by a program named Mystart Toolbar “Virus”. This program is a typical browser hijacker, which is not as harmful as a computer virus, but could still be incredibly annoying. Let us tell you more about it and all of its specifics and the most effective ways to remove it.

Mystart Toolbar “Virus” is capable of interfering with your normal browsing in a very annoying way.

The first thing that you probably notice once a browser hijacker like Mystart Toolbar “Virus” has invaded your computer is that your default browser is not the same anymore. There might be some replacements in your homepage or search engine, some new toolbars or tabs that keep loading every time you open your browser and this is something that you have not approved. On top of that, you might not be able to browse the web in peace anymore since tons of aggressive sponsored messages, promotions and ads may keep popping up on your screen and keep interrupting your searches, no matter how many times you try to close them. This is hijacking activity, which is related to a very aggressive advertising method known as Pay-Per-Click. Programs like Mystart Toolbar “Virus” are commonly involved in this Pay-Per-Click scheme and used by different vendors and advertisers who benefit from clicks on sponsored ads.

However, you as a user may have no benefit from such a program. Being constantly redirected to different websites and bombarded with lots of offers and promotions may be very irritating. It may heavily interfere with your normal browsing, which is why so many people prefer to remove this type of software from their computers. A browser hijacker may also affect their system by consuming a lot of CPU and RAM resources, this way causing sluggishness, frequent freezing, and crashes. Another quite invasive ability of the hijacker is to track your online activity. It may collect data about your web searches, your browsing history, bookmarks and latest visited pages. This is done usually with the idea to define your interests and expose you to ads that you might be interested to click on.

Is Mystart Toolbar “Virus” a legal program or some nasty virus?

When it comes to browser hijackers, these pieces of software are not considered illegal. Yes, they do have some rather questionable and intrusive activities, but none of them can pose a serious risk to the users’ system and security. Therefore, the security experts don’t consider them as dangerous as the viruses, the Trojans, the Ransomware and the other online threats. Moreover, programs like Mystart Toolbar “Virus” are owned not by hackers or some criminals, but by online businesses, vendors and software developers. These marketers do not intend to corrupt your system or encrypt your files. They are only interested in advertising their products to your screen. The criminals behind a Trojan horse or Ransomware infection, however, would not spare your system and would do a bunch of harmful things to your PC. Fortunately, you don’t have to deal with any malware as such, because Mystart Toolbar “Virus” is not a threat of this type. Still, the annoyance it creates may be enough for some people to uninstall it from their system and if you are one of them, here we will show you how to do that.

How does Mystart Toolbar “Virus” spread around and how to prevent it?

Spam, torrent sites, freeware or shareware platforms, free downloads from the web, different software installers, ads and offers are all places where browser hijackers like Mystart Toolbar “Virus” could be found. If you have the habit of roaming around such places, you may end up with some software of this type. In fact, you may be tricked into downloading and installing it without knowing. This usually happens if you download a software installer of some other attractive or useful program, where such a program is bundled. Many people make the mistake of not to reading the EULA carefully and not to customizing the setup before completing the installation of new software on their machine. This often lands them a bunch of potentially unwanted programs, which may get installed by default along with the software they desire. To prevent this thing from happening, we always advise our readers to take a look at the EULA and always opt for the “Advanced/Custom” installation option when available. This is where they can always check for some additional software like browser hijackers or other potentially unwanted programs and manually disable them from being installed. Uninstalling them, however, may be a bit tricky, so we suggest you take a look at the removal guide below, which can be very helpful in removing Mystart Toolbar “Virus” and other similar programs from your system.
