The home page www.oxybe.com has likelytaken over your browsers by now. Please remove it immediately from your system, as its pop ups become more harmful over time, since it uses them to trick you into installing more viruses – even ones of the dangerous ransomware class.
As you probably already know Respectsale can be incredibly annoying. It generates ads every time you start your browser and it will keep doing it unless it is properly removal. It is a relatively easy operation, but it will require some reading on your part. Let’s begin with…
A short overview
The ads generated by Respectsale are not only frustrating, but also pose considerable danger if they are interacted with. Thus you should ignore whatever messages spew forward from Respectsale, as nothing good will come out of those. Ultimately these things will:
- At the very least waste your time. Following the hyperlinks will get you nowhere.
- Try to rip you off. The products they offer are not real products, but fakes imitating existing legitimate goods.
- Install malware on your computer – any installer coming out of Respectsale will most certainly be a virus.
Next, to elaborate on the last point
In addition to the ads you may be seeing several different messages like:
- An empty player promising a video, which wants you to download some specific program before the video can be played.
- Pop-up messages warning you that you have a missing plug-in that should be installed.
- Offers to grab free software. Anti-virus or anti-malware programs are often used as bait in this scenario.
- Some program you have is outdated and an update should be downloaded and installed. Programs like Flash and Java are often used in this trick.
Each of these will net you an executable file, which contains another virus.
IMPORTANT! Outside of Respectsale you may see this messages spawn in different sites around the internet. Their purpose there is exactly the same and they are a very sure indication that this particular site is infected with viruses and potentially very dangerous. Such sites are one of the main roads Adware can take to get into your computer.
We’ll finish with the most popular trick Respectsale might have utilized to get into your machine
Program bundles. When you download and install software it is common practice to install additional programs and utilities as a bonus extra in the installer of the program you want. This is done for advertisement and promotional purposes, but Adware developers also get a hand in. Often, especially with free programs, the extras will be in fact Adware. That’s why it is a good idea to disregard the default installation and instead opt for the advanced option. There is nothing complicated here – it just allows you to see what is getting installed and you can disallow access to any unwanted bundled programs you don’t need.

You are now in the Control Panel. Search around for Respectsale and anything else suspicious-looking. Uninstall it/them. Also, be extremely careful. Viruses often spend one last ditch effort to trick you into installing more of their kind. If you see a screen like this when you click Uninstall, choose NO:
This is perhaps the most important and difficult step, so be extremely careful. Open the Task Manager by right clicking on the Taskbar and choosing Start Task Manager.
Once it opens, choose the Processes Tab. Look at all of the processes in front of you and try to determine which ones are a virus. Google them or ask us in the comments and we will provide the best assistance we can. If the virus returns later on, the reason is that you missed something here.
Right click on each of the virus processes separately and select Open File Location. Also, End the process after you open the folder. Just to make sure we don’t delete any programs you mistakenly took for a virus, copy the folders somewhere, then delete the directories you were sent to.
We’ve had reports that this virus can come back after you uninstall it. This usually takes place on system boot. If this happens, do the following:
Type Regedit in the windows search field and press Enter.
Once inside, press CTRL and F together and type the virus’s Name. Right click and delete any entries you find with a similar name. Alternatively, if you can’t find any this way, look in these directories, and delete the registries manually:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random numbers
HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random
