Browser hijackers are one of the most commonly encountered forms of undesirable and, sometimes, potentially hazardous/unsafe software. The typical characteristics of one such app is that it is similar to a browser add-on app and it can normally get attached to all kinds of browsers so it wouldn’t matter what your browser of choice is – Chrome, Edge, Firefox or another one, a hijacker could still get added to it. The problem is, however, that once added to your browser, the hijacker is likely going to initiate some rather unpleasant activities such as changing the starting page address of your browser and meddling with its search engine settings or entirely replacing the whole search engine and all of this would normally happen without your informed permission. On top of that, you are likely to start seeing different nagging ads, page redirects to unknown sites in new tabs and generation of obstructive banners. All in all, this can be a pretty irritating software app. However, this type of apps are mostly not malicious or harmful – unlike a cyber threat the likes of a Ransomware cryptovirus or Trojan Horse program, a hijacker would mostly be focused on spamming ads on your screen without really doing much else. In some cases, it might try to keep tabs on your browsing activity to figure out your most likely interests and later use that info to modify the ads that it shows you so that they’d be more relevant and you’d be more likely to click on them and thus generate Pay-Per-Click revenue for the hijacker’s creators. However, aside from that, you should be safe in most cases. Still, if you are interested in removing browser hijackers and currently have one, you can use the next removal guide – it is focused on eliminating a hijacker named Rappenedinted.info that a lot of users have recently been complaining about.

More about Rappenedinted.info

It is likely that you have come to this post exactly because Rappenedinted.info has somehow got installed on your computer – as we mentioned earlier, this is a highly intrusive hijacker and a lot of users have recently gotten it installed on their machines without really knowing how that had happened. The reason for that has to do with the rather sneaky distribution methods used by hijacker developers to spread their software. Oftentimes, a hijacker would get put as an added install to some other program’s installer and would be labeled as a bonus component that might even be recommended or at least advertised as useful. Most users would disregard and ignore that and install the main program without bothering to uncheck the bundled app which is how they get the hijacker. However, you shouldn’t be like that – generally, you mustn’t allow hijackers to stay on your computer. While not malicious like Trojans or Ransomware or other similar threats, they are oftentimes not very safe either – the ads they generate might sometimes lead you to obscure, questionable and maybe even hazardous online locations which is also why we advise you to keep away from the content brought to you by Rappenedinted.info in case the hijacker is currently active on your computer.
