The problem did not appear when i created a second account on my mac. What I just did was run “grep -R SearchMine .” from my home directory. Those strings appear in a number of files. I removed the directories that those files appear it. Its pretty obvious which directories need to be removed. I was able to restart Chrome, and the problem went away.

I’ve done all the above for my Macbook with no luck. When I go to “Manage Search Engines”, and select Searchmine to remove it as default browser, it does not give me the option to Edit or Remove From List. Any suggestions here on how to get around it? Thanks!

Do a search for “search” & “coupon” and delete programs & folders. The programs are not always in the “application” folder.

There is a “profile” in system preferences that needs to be deleted.

Wiping the Mac is the best solution. Just carefully backup your files before doing so.

In reply to Katrina. Did you get the full version of the app? If you did, and the unwanted app wasn't removed, you should contact the support team, and request their help. They will assist you with the removal of the undesirable software.

I downloaded combo cleaner and it couldn’t get rid of search mine
