In case that your computer has somehow got the .Solo infection, then it is no surprise that now you may be unable to access your most important files. The attack of this new Ransomware cryptovirus typically results in most of your personal files getting locked by an advanced encryption. If you try to open or use any of the encrypted files, the Ransomware asks you to pay a huge amount of money in ransom. But what to do if you don’t want to lose your files and don’t want to pay the ransom to some anonymous cyber criminals? Well, on this page, we are going to offer you some alternative solutions, which may be able to help you deal with this nasty malware.

.Solo Ransomware

.Solo is considered to be an extremely harmful computer infection for all the Windows computer systems. It can secretly sneak in with the help of various malicious transmitters, as well as through system vulnerabilities which a previous Trojan horse infection may create. As a new addition to the Ransomware family, this particular threat poses a serious challenge even to experienced security experts who might try to find a way to safely remove it from the infected machines and deal with its secret encryption.

Once .Solo infects your computer, it immediately starts to scan it for files which are can be targeted for encryption. The Ransomware is programmed to take hostage files belonging to types like images, videos, documents, archives, databases, audio, and other maybe even some system file types. After the completion of the encryption process, an unfamiliar file extension may appear at the end of every encrypted file. The main idea behind this action is that the hackers would have the leverage they need in order to blackmail you. The hackers behind .Solo want to extort money from unsuspecting computer users by threatening them to never access their files again if they don’t pay the required ransom.

How to Decrypt .Solo files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

What to do?

In order to clean your computer and take actions towards setting your files free and potentially recovering them, you need to take into consideration several factors. First of all, the nature of the Ransomware threats is very complex and, so far, there hasn’t been a universal solution that can provide everyone with a 100% recovery. That’s why each and every case is very individual. Secondly, if you want to make your PC safe for further use, you will need to first and foremost remove the virus from your PC with the help of professional anti-malware software or manually (see the instructions above), if you know which malicious files you need to remove. Thirdly, it is always a risk to send the hackers your money in hopes of getting your files back, because there is absolutely no guarantee that they will liberate the locked data after you pay the ransom. That’s why, in case that you have file backups, it is best to use them or try out some other file-recovery methods (like the ones on our site) which may prove effective for some of you. The most important thing is to avoid panicking and to take your time to carefully research your alternatives which may help you avoid the ransom payment and minimize the harmful effects of the Ransomware invasion.
