The terrorists of the Internet – Trojans horse viruses:

The malicious programs we define as Trojan Horses are definitely among the most dangerous programs you could come across on the web. They are the basic reason behind more than 70% of the recorded malware infections on a global scale. Moreover, their functionality might be so versatile that you can never know for sure the purpose of the one that has attacked you. Therefore, it is highly important that you are well aware of the main characteristics of a Trojan Horse virus so you know how to defend against such an infection.

Possible dangerous effects coming from an infection caused by Remove10.exe:

The kind of a Trojan we are talking about in this article is called Remove10.exe. This version, as any other Trojan, may have multiple uses. All of them are really harassing and disturbing. The list we have included below describes only some of the most commonly encountered ones:

  1. Trojans serving as thieves – This actually means that no info or data on the infected device are ever safe. The Trojan could record all your keystrokes and it might also allow the hacker to directly look at you through your webcam. Other Trojans may be after some data of the company you are employed by, and provided that your PC is a component of such a network, a Trojan Horse infection can allow for the whole network to get hacked. The hackers may seek to steal your money and drain your banking accounts by exploiting the virus for stealing your banking credentials. The goal of the cyber criminals might also be to take over your social media accounts – such criminals may want to invade your personal space and invade your entire identity.
  2. One more possible use of any Trojan horse virus may be to load other malware programs (like, for instance, Ransomware) into your system. What Remove10.exe could do is define which program or system point is vulnerable enough to be used for allowing the malicious Ransomware virus inside your PC. This is actually a quite frequently encountered practice and many Ransomware viruses tend to get distributed via noxious Trojans.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC at the same time and go to the Processes Tab. Try to determine which processes are dangerous.

Right click on each of them and select Open File Location. Then scan the files with our free online virus scanner:

Drag and Drop Files Here to Scan
Maximum file size: 128MB.

This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users. You can find its full-page version at:

After you open their folder, end the processes that are infected, then delete their folders.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold together the Start Key and R. Type appwiz.cpl –> OK.

You are now in the Control Panel. Look for suspicious entries. Uninstall it/them. If you see a screen like this when you click Uninstall, choose NO:

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer or otherwise look suspicious.

  • Remember this step – if you have reason to believe a bigger threat (like ransomware) is on your PC, check everything here.

Hold the Start Key and R –  copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

hosts_opt (1)

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

  1. The hackers might try to harm your machine’s system via their virus. All sorts of severe damage could be caused by a Trojan Horse to your computer such as OS data corruption, sudden system errors, BSOD crashes, etc. –  the list goes on and on.
  2. Any Trojan version could be able to transform your device into a bot. As soon as it has been turned into such a bot, your device may start spreading spam or completing an illegal action, which you are very likely to end up accused of after that – without really having done anything wrong yourself;
  3. The hackers may want to take over your PC in a remote way for some other evil purpose.
  4. Your device may be turned into a source of different malware because of the activities of Remove10.exe. Consequently, your professional or home network may also get infected with malware.

We are again reminding you that these potential purposes of using Remove10.exe are simply the most usual ones. In fact, your exact case may be entirely different.  Stay cautious and contact us for further information if your case is not among the explained ones above.

Possible sources of Trojans:

The simplest way to avoid such an evil contamination caused by viruses such as Remove10.exe is to know all about their possible sources. They might be found everywhere – on contagious web locations, among illegal torrents, inside illegally distributed software. Most usually, they could be found inside spam letters send to your email. That is why you need to make an attempt to avoid every single shady looking letter and all of its potentially contagious attachments. In some rare cases, Trojans may also come from downloading software that appears on your screen in the form of a request for updating some of your programs. Such updates may be fake and you could end up getting having your PC infected by Remove10.exe if you allow them to install.
