If your computer has been infected by a browser hijacker, it’s completely understandable if your initial response included panic, a multitude of questions and even fear. The thing is that programs of this type are typically quite intrusive and can impose some rather drastic changes to your favorite Chrome, Firefox, Edge or other popular browser. For example, you will be sure to notice almost immediately the change in your browser’s homepage, as well as the newly set default search engine that also redirects you to pages you didn’t ask it to load. And to top it all off, the hijacker doesn’t allow you to change back to your previous browser settings, which is also rather aggressive and can make anyone panic. Today’s article is about one of the latest programs of this type better known as Search Webshields Org Virus. It exhibits the exact same symptoms as those we just described and if that’s the program that has made its way into your system, then it’s best you read through this article. Below you will also find detailed instructions on how to remove this hijacker from your computer so that it will finally stop bugging you.
The purpose of browser hijackers and the risks of their presence
Let’s first get one thing straight to we can alleviate any anxiety that our readers may have regarding Search Webshields Org Virus. It is not a virus and not a form of malware, so it is not out to get you. You may find info online suggesting otherwise, but don’t believe it. Browser hijackers are generally harmless programs that employ various aggressive advertising methods to gain more exposure for certain products, services, websites, etc. In doing so, they also ensure that their developers can also profit from the whole advertising profit. And most of the time, that’s made possible with the help of Pay Per Click and other similar remuneration models that convert user clicks on all the displayed popups, banners and box messages into small amounts of money. This exact business model is what dictates the intrusive behavior of most hijackers out there.

And speaking of intrusive, there are a few things we would like our readers to be aware of when dealing with such software. As they integrate with your browser, these programs can gain access to your browsing history records with the aim of extracting certain data from it that would help them optimize their ads. For example, the websites you visit, as well as the things you search for online can all tell Search Webshields Org Virus what type of content you are currently most interested in. Then, taking that info into consideration, the hijacker can begin to shuffle up its ads, so that you will mainly be seeing popups and banners that are relevant to your behavior online. Creepy, isn’t it? And all in the name of profit.
However, that’s not the worst of it yet. You should also consider yourself warned that keeping programs of this type on your computer over extended periods of time can substantially compromise its performance. The constant generating of advertising materials in the background can slow down your PC’s productivity, start causing browser crashes, system malfunctions and in severe cases – even BSODs. Not to mention that these annoying little pieces of software can also burrow deep into your system, altering its registry and, thus, also making it more vulnerable to external threats like Trojans and ransomware. Note, that’s not to say that Search Webshields Org Virus is willingly trying to expose you to viruses. But that may simply follow as a consequence of the processes it runs on your computer.
Your best shot at avoiding any more serious infections would be to remove the hijacker from your system as soon as you can. In addition to that, be sure to upgrade your PC protection by installing a reliable antimalware tool. Aside from that, as you likely downloaded Search Webshields Org Virus alongside some of the program, be sure to start paying more attention to your download sources. Use only reliable websites with a trustworthy reputation and always customize the setup of newly downloaded programs that you are about to install. By doing so, you will have better chances of preventing any added content from entering your system under the cover of programs you actually want to install.
