This browser hijacker has been recently reported as the source of undesired changes to the homepage and the default search engine of many Chrome and Firefox users, and some of them have reached us with a call for help. If your favorite browser has also been affected by numerous page redirects, pop-ups, and notifications full of sponsored ads, then in this guide you are going to learn how to effectively remove them. Uninstalling the Takeofftv.su components is a task that you can do completely on your own, and with the help of the detailed instructions below we believe you will have no issues in dealing with this browser hijacker.
What is Takeofftv.su and what are the symptoms?
Falling into the category of browser hijackers, Takeofftv.su is a program that has generally been created to serve the online advertising industry by modifying your browser search engine and homepage and redirecting you to different web locations full of promotional messages and sponsored ads. Some of the symptoms that you have been invaded by this program are the numerous ads, pop-ups, banners, new tabs and notifications that may come up on your screen every time you open your default browser. This may be considered as quite irritating activity and some users may refer to it as a nasty virus infection, but fortunately, Takeofftv.su is not a virus. In fact, browser hijackers are not malicious programs and unlike viruses and other online threats like Ransomware, Trojans and Spyware, they do not attempt to do harm to your computer. Their real purpose is to earn money for their developers through the infamous Pay-Per-Click method. Through this method, actually, many software developers and online based businesses get paid every time users click on some of the sponsored advertisements or pages, displayed by the browser hijacker. This is a legal thing, and unlike Ransomware, where unscrupulous criminals ask for illegal ransom from the users, here the online advertisers pay to the hijacker owners to promote their websites, products and services. This is basically how the online advertising industry operates, but the irritation that this rather aggressive advertising method may create, leads some users to the decision of uninstalling Takeofftv.su from their machines.
How can you get Takeofftv.su on your PC and how to prevent it?
Used as an advertising tool, Takeofftv.su could be found on many web locations and this is valid also for all other programs from the browser hijacker family. Such pieces of software are commonly distributed via bundles, where they usually are packed along with some other attractive program. Video players, game installers, optimization software setups, download managers, free applications from the web, torrents, spam emails or free software platforms may all contain browser hijackers bundled inside their setups. So, if you frequently install software from such locations, you may come across different additional software and sometimes even malware like Trojans and Ransomware, which may hide there. That’s why, we would advise you to do one very important thing. The moment you run the setup, look for an option called “Advanced” or “Custom” and go for it. Do not choose the standard installation because this will automatically install the bundle as it is, without giving you the option to manually disable the programs you may not want. Also, read the EULA before installing any new software on your machine to gain a better understanding of the program you intend to run and the additional bloatware (such as adware, browser hijackers, etc.) that may be included in the bundle. This may save you from the discomfort of dealing with potentially unwanted programs and the need to remove them from your system.
