Triocyspeedup is a new malicious threat recognized as a representative of the Trojan horse category. Triocyspeedup is capable of a long list of harmful tasks and is considered to be extremely dangerous.

Removing a Trojan horse virus from your PC can be a formidable challenge if you are not an experienced PC user and if you do not know what to look for inside your system. In fact, in some cases, even IT professionals with high computing skills might find it difficult to remove such a threat from an infected machine. However, if you currently have Triocyspeedup or some other Trojan on your computer, then there really aren’t many alternatives. You can either wait idly as the malware carries out its insidious tasks or take action and, with some luck, eliminate the virus.

Of course, you are likely going to need some help with that which is the main reason we are writing this article. Here, you can find some general information about the Triocyspeedup infection and about the Trojan horse malware class in general as well as a detailed removal manual that will guide you through the process of liberating your machine from the insidious malware program.

Triocy Speedup

We should first tell you something more about the capabilities of these so-called Trojan horses. Unlike more specialized malware types like spyware or ransomware, Trojans such as Triocyspeedup are actually quite versatile. They tend to have a number of different abilities that can be used together or separately depending on exactly what the hackers who control them seek to achieve. In some cases, a virus of this kind might delete essential data from your HDD and thus corrupt your system and render the PC unusable while in other cases, the purpose of the attack might be more covert and the Trojan might try to silently spy on you or even control certain processes in your computer without showing any symptoms. Regardless of the actual use of the Trojan in each separate case, however, removing the infection is still of utmost importance and this is where the following guide should come in handy.

Be careful in the future

Removing the infection caused by Triocyspeedup is certainly crucial in order to keep your system healthy and secure but it’s also important to never allow such threats to infiltrate your computer in the future. To achieve that, you should, of course, keep a strong and reliable antivirus solution inside your computer. However, this is usually not enough of a precaution measure on its own to keep your computer reliably defended. An antivirus might still fail to detect some newer infections and this is why you must also ensure that you manually reduce the chances of landing some nasty new virus.

The way to do that is by avoiding shady websites and keeping away from any form of web content that might be infected. Suspicious e-mails and potentially spam messages, random ads coming from questionable sources, browser hijacker apps and adware that might have gotten in your browsers and so on and so forth. Also, be sure to avoid downloading pirated content – not only is downloading pirated software illegal but it is also dangerous as many games and other programs that are getting illegally distributed might have nasty viruses and Trojans like Triocyspeedup in them.

Note that this might not get rid of Triocyspeedup completely. For more detailed removal instructions follow the guide below.

How to Remove the Triocyspeedup Virus?

To remove the Triocyspeedup virus, the main steps that must be completed are shown here:

  1. If the Trojan has entered your PC via the help of another program, you must find and delete that program.
  2. You must then check the Task Manager for processes related to the virus, quit those processes, and erase their data.
  3. Thirdly, the DNS settings of your PC as well as its list of Startup items, and its Hosts file must be restored to their normal state.
  4. The final step to remove the Triocyspeedup virus is to clean the computer’s Registry from items that may have been added to it by the Trojan.

More in-depth instructions for each of the steps can be seen below – we advise you to read everything before starting to complete the removal process.

Detailed Triocyspeedup Removal Instructions

Before making any attempts to remove Triocyspeedup, you must first ensure that the virus is not able to reach out to its servers and receive new instructions from there, because this could make its removal significantly more difficult. Therefore, you are advised to disconnect your PC from the Internet and connect it back only once the guide has been finished and the malware – removed.

Step 1

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

If you want to avoid the risk, we recommend downloading SpyHunter
a professional malware removal tool.

Even if you don’t remember installing any sketchy programs in the recent days/weeks, you should still go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Program and Features and search the list for suspicious items. If you don’t initially see the Control Panel in the Start Menu, simply search for it in the Start Menu search bar, and you will find it.

Now, if in the Programs and Features list, you see any recently-installed program with a questionable name (especially if you don’t recognize this program), select it from the list, then click the Uninstall button shown at the top, and proceed with the on-screen steps. Make sure to uninstall that program without allowing its uninstallation wizard to keep any data related to it on your computer.

Step 2

Open the Start Menu, type Task Manager, and go to that app. Then see what processes are listed in its Processes tab and look for ones that may be related to Triocyspeedup. Processes with very high virtual memory or CPU use that have unusual names would be potential suspects. If one or more of the processes in the Task Manager seem odd to you, try to figure out if they are from the malware with the help of the next two methods:

  • The first one is to simply Google the name of whichever process you deem questionable. Most of the time, this will give you relevant results from security forums, where you will easily find out if the process may be a threat. Just make sure that the sources from where you get your information are reliable and reputable.
  • The next thing you can do is right-click on the process and select the first option from the menu to go to its File Location folder. There, you must scan all the files and see if malware gets detected within any of them. We recommend using the following free online scanner for this task. Needless to say, if a file in that folder turns out to contain malicious code, the process it is related to must also be harmful.
Each file will be scanned with up to 64 antivirus programs to ensure maximum accuracy
This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users.
This file is not matched with any known malware in the database. You can either do a full real-time scan of the file or skip it to upload a new file. Doing a full scan with 64 antivirus programs can take up to 3-4 minutes per file.

If there’s a process or several processes in the Task Manager, open their folders, then end the processes, and finally delete their location folders with everything stored inside them.

    Step 3

For the remainder of this guide, it’s recommended that your computer is in Safe Mode, so enter Safe Mode now before you proceed to the next step.

    Step 4

First we must check if Triocyspeedup has done anything to the DNS settings of your main network – to do this, type ncpa.cpl in the Start Menu and hit Enter. The right-click on the network you use most of the time, go to its Properties, and open the Internet Protocol Version 4 by double-clicking it. Then check the options labelled Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically and go to Advanced > DNS. There, delete any items (IPs) that may be shown in the list below DNS server addresses, and save what changes you have made by clicking the OK button on every open window.

The next thing you must do is open the Start Menu again, type msconfig in the search bar, and open the app that appears. In it, you must go to the Startup section and look through the items shown there, searching for ones that you are not familiar with, ones that seem problematic, and/or ones with unknown manufacturers according to the list. If you find such entries shown there, uncheck them, and click OK.

Finally, copy-paste this line notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts inside the Start Menu, press the Enter key, and a text file (labelled Hosts) should show up. You must check if the Trojan has hijacked it by looking towards the end of the text – if any IP addresses are present below the two “Localhost” lines, this could mean that Triocyspeedup has modified this file without your permission. Send us whatever IPs are present there by posting them down in the comments, so we could confirm (or disprove) that they are from the virus. Either way, we will soon tell you i anything must be done about them.

    Step 5

For the completion of this next step, you must be really careful because, if you end up deleting an item you aren’t supposed to, you could make the system unstable as well as cause other unpleasant issues. For this reason, we recommend always reaching out to us through the comments whenever you are uncertain about something.

Now, go to the Start Menu, type in its search box regedit and when an app labelled regedit.exe shows up, open it, and click Yes if you are required to give your Admin approval. After that, go to the Edit menu in the Registry Editor window that will open, and select Find. Next, type Triocyspeedup in the Find box and initiate the search. If an Triocyspeedup item gets found, click it, press Del from your keyboard, and confirm the deletion. Then search for more Triocyspeedup items and do the same with them. Make sure that there’s nothing left from the Trojan in the Registry.

Lastly, check the following Registry locations for questionable entries – items with long and random-looking names similar to this one, “39e923ut39ud98tu39eu904tjd90230r9jd389tuu09d“. If there are such items in any of the listed locations, let us know about them in the comments below, and we will tell you if further action is required regarding those items.

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main

    Step 6

If the Trojan has managed to nest itself too deep within your system, it may not be feasible to manually find and delete all malicious data and settings that it has introduced to your computer. In such instances, where the user hasn’t been able to manually clean their computer from a threat such as Triocyspeedup, we recommend using the professional anti-malware tool included on this page. With its assistance, you should be able to easily dispose of Triocyspeedup and also keep your computer secure in the future.
