This page aims to help you remove Vbdrj Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any Vbdrj file can be recovered.

In the event that you have come across a malicious program that has locked you out of a large number of the files on your computer, you will need some serious help. You have contracted Vbdrj and it’s what’s known as a ransomware cryptovirus, because it encrypts the files on the victims’ computers. The name of this particular variant comes from the extension it changes that of the encrypted files to, which in essence makes them unreadable to any other program. Unfortunately, ransomware has become one of the most devastating threats exactly due to its complex encryptions which are often irreversible. Even if you pay the money the hackers behind it demand, that may still not grant you access to your files again. Nevertheless, we would like to provide those affected by Vbdrj with a potential solution for this infection. In this article we will aim to offer you all the most important information about ransomware in general. And below it you will find a removal guide with instructions on how to locate and delete this virus, as well as a few steps that may help you regain access to your encrypted data.

Ransomware: a little history

To begin with, ransomware originated in Russia in the late 1980s. And for a fairly long time it was pretty much exclusive to that part of the world. But in recent years there’s been an incredible boom in the development and distribution of this particular malware type. One of the key reasons for that was the creation of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. If you know anything about ransomware, you have probably heard that most of the time the victim users are instructed to pay the ransom in Bitcoin. Why? Because the cryptocurrency offers complete anonymity, so there would be no possibility to track the money flow and for the cybercriminals to get caught. Needless to say that in only a few years, viruses of the Vbdrj type have become a very lucrative criminal industry and everyone wants a piece of the pie.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold the Start Key and R –  copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

msconfig_opt

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

How to Decrypt Vbdrj files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

So, this has led to the massive increase in ransomware presence in the world, we’re talking millions of new, unique variants each year. Cyber security experts – let’s face it – are pretty much helpless to keep up with this rapidly growing threat and with the hackers being protected by their anonymity, there’s not much the authorities can do either. So this leaves users to fend for themselves. And the first thing one ought to do in case of an infection like Vbdrj ransomware is NOT pay the ransom. It will achieve questionable results and just help fund the hackers behind it. Chances are you won’t even receive a decryption key to set your data free. Therefore, it’s better to explore other alternatives.

And by that we mean, first and foremost, removing Vbdrj from your system. This can prove to be a tedious process, as ransomware likes to hide deep inside the systems it infects, but it’s a necessary one nonetheless. If you don’t get rid of the virus, it could end up causing even more damage later on. In case you don’t feel like you’re confident enough to be dealing with system files, you can always use the professional removal tool we have – it should take care of the issue in a matter of several minutes. Once you’ve taken care of that, you can proceed with different file-restoration tactics. One is attempting to recover your data from system backups, if you don’t have any on a separate drive or a cloud. This may or may not work, but we’ve provided instructions on how to do that in the below guide.

Another thing you can try is using a decryptor tool. We have listed several of the latest ones released on our website, so be sure to check them out. If you don’t find one that works for you, you can always check back with the list later, as we update it on a regular basis when new decryptors are released. In addition, you can always try contacting a ransomware specialist of your choice. But one thing is for certain and that is that from now on you should certainly start creating backups of your most important data on separate drives. This is the one way to beat any ransomware infection.
