This page aims to help you remove Adware Virus. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

If you are here because an undesirable app/software component named Adware Virus has replaced the search engine or the homepage of your main browser and has started to display different irritating adverts and page redirects on your screen, then know that we understand just how unpleasant this could be. In fact, there are a lot of people out there who are familiar with the experience of having a browser hijacker such as Adware Virus on their computers. A browser hijacker is an application, a program, a browser extension or any other type of software piece that could be added to the user’s browser with the purpose of exploiting it for its advertising campaign. Unlike most regular browser extensions that could typically function only on one or two similar browsers, an app like Adware Virus could get added to pretty much any browsing program you could think of. Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, IE and so on and so forth – there’s hardly a browser that the majority of hijackers cannot attach themselves to. However, here we aren’t talking about an actual malware infection since browser hijackers are not technically viruses. Therefore, there’s no real reason to get panicked if you’ve recently found out that Adware Virus or any other similar app is residing on your PC. This isn’t some scary Ransomware or some highly-dangerous Trojan Horse infection and there will likely be no long-lasting signs of the hijacker’s presence on your system after you’ve removed the undesirable software piece. However, if you’ve already tried to uninstall the pesky app yourself, you have likely found out that doing that isn’t all that easy. Hijackers are well-known for being quite difficult to get rid of. It is also typical for them to “reinstall” or “re-attach” themselves to the browser even after the user has managed to seemingly remove them. However, difficult doesn’t mean impossible and we will prove that to you down below, with our guide for removing the Adware Virus hijacker. The reason we are mainly focusing on Adware Virus is because it is currently one of the most widespread representatives of this software class and also because a big number of users have made complains about it in the recent days.

As you can see, there is quite a lot to e done before you can be sure that the hijacker has been thoroughly taken care of. However, we understand that the steps from the guide might sometimes not work perfectly or that some of you might not feel confident enough in their computing skills in order to complete the whole guide. This is why, we have placed a removal tool for unwanted software inside the guide – the automatic security program could help you detect the pesky app and remove it in case you need the extra assistance from it.

Make sure you remove the hijacker

In the end, it doesn’t matter which method you decide to go for – the manual steps or the removal program. The important thing is to make sure that the pesky hijacker app is no longer present on your computer. The reason for that is the security hazards Adware Virus or any other similar software piece could bring you. Now, again, we need to remind you that this isn’t some kind of a Trojan Horse, a Ransomware, a Spyware or some other insidious and malicious virus program. However, ads like the ones that normally come from hijackers aren’t the most reliable types of online content and it is inadvisable that you interact with them even if a certain offer looks attractive and legitimate. Although most adverts and page redirects are likely not going to put your system at any risk, there are still those online ads that could potentially link you to shady, questionable and maybe even illegal sites – something that could really threaten the security of your PC. Therefore, the best way to avoid putting your machine at risk would be to eliminate the source of the advertising materials.

How you could land an app like Adware Virus

Despite the fact that a lot of browser hijackers actually have official sites and pages whence one could download them, it is more common for such apps to get distributed through methods such as spam messaging, malvertising and software bundling. This is why it is so important you do not go to obscure online addresses, open any spam letters and download low-quality or pirated software. Also, even when you are about to install a legitimate-looking program, remember to take your time to study its setup configuration details and see if there aren’t any bonus software components bundled with the installer which might be unwanted. If there are any, you should, of course, disable them before you go on to install the main program from the installation package.
