Browser hijackers can be a real pain in the neck, and software developers have even made them compatible with Android devices, such as smartphones and tablets. One of the programs of this type that has been reported to us lately is called Viruses Warning Com and is also probably the reason you’re here. Similarly to their PC counterparts, Android hijackers also take charge of your Chrome, Firefox or other browser and alter its settings, such as changing the default search engine and homepage. Users are also forced to suffer through numerous page redirects and tons of online ads that take up all of their screens. In this article we will aim to clarify what it is that Viruses Warning Com is doing on your device and how you can remove it with the help of a few simple steps (see removal guide below).
What are hijackers? Are they harmful?
You would be rightfully concerned about the safety of your device, but thankfully Viruses Warning Com doesn’t represent a direct threat to it. People often confuse this type of software with viruses and malware, but that’s far from the truth. Nevertheless, hijackers do perform a number of unwanted activities on your phone or tablet and that’s why uninstalling them is the best way to go.
What we have in mind is, for example, the fact that a program like Viruses Warning Com can easily be monitoring your every movement online. It can track your search queries, social media activity and your browsing history. And all of this is to determine which of its ads may potentially be more attractive to you. It can then rearrange them on your screen so as to gain more taps from you and, therefore, more profit for its developers. Furthermore, a hijacker can unintentionally end up redirecting you to some compromised webpage that distributes viruses, even of the really scary kind like ransomware.
Obviously, the above is not at all pleasant, so it’s up to you to keep yourself and your device safe online. You can do that by following basic safety measures, but also by making sure you don’t end up with another hijacker like Viruses Warning Com again. Be sure to always use the Google Play Store to download apps, but since hijacker-containing ones can still be found there, you’d best do a little research before you download an app. Look it up, check the reviews and that way you will have a better chance of knowing whether or not it has a browser hijacker integrated with it.
Viruses Warning Com Removal
Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.
Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:
For “Internet” Browser Users:
Tap the Force Stop button.
Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.
For Google Chrome Users:
Click on Force Stop.
Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.
If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.
However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.
