This page aims to help you remove [email protected] Virus Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any [email protected] file can be recovered.

If we discuss malware infections in general, the biggest numbers of them are inflicted by Trojan horse viruses. In spite of that, the most horrible contaminations we have some records of have been caused by the representatives of another virus family: Ransomware. This is the main reason why this article here is published – we strive to help you find out more about the features and consequences resulting from one specific Ransomware called [email protected] Generally, [email protected] is member of the infamous file-encrypting Ransomware category, capable of sneaking into your system without asking for your consent; and after that making you unable to access the data it has sealed. After that, this malicious software usually sends a message to let you know about what the hackers behind this program expect you to do. And normally that is to pay a ransom for the safe and successful decryption of the locked up files.

What can be expected from a virus such as [email protected]:

Like any other file-encrypting Ransomware version, this particular virus typically performs a data-locking process. Normally, the encryption happens right after the program has already chosen which data in particular you seem to value most. In fact, not only does the virus define the data that is to be encoded, but it also creates a very elaborate list with all of it. In the next stage of the infection you receive the awful alert message, stating that you owe some scammers a ransom and you need to pay it before an exact deadline. Please note that it is actually possible to notice the process of locking up files as long as it is still unfinished. However, spotting such an infection is very difficult and only happens fairly rarely. Despite that, you may be lucky, and in case you see an unknown process in your Task Manager consuming most of your system resources, simply turn off your PC, and seek an expert for assistance. The process may be a Ransomware virus encrypting some essential files.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC at the same time and go to the Processes Tab. Try to determine which processes are dangerous.

Right click on each of them and select Open File Location. Then scan the files with our free online virus scanner:

After you open their folder, end the processes that are infected, then delete their folders.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold the Start Key and R –  copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

hosts_opt (1)

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

How to Decrypt [email protected] files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

But once the entire encryption process has ended, there is very little that can be done to recover from it. To our mutual disappointment, file-encrypting viruses are very difficult to cope with. Even experts in that field might find it very tough to deal with such a virus without paying the required ransom, and restore the hijacked files at the same time. What’s more, let’s be realistic: you have really minimal chances of success when counteracting [email protected] and we do not want to give you false hope. In spite of all that, it is always a good idea to try to remove the infection. Simply search for other possible options before you pay the money the hackers want. For example, you can try contacting a specialist for advice and some know-how. And you may also try purchasing some special software to remove the contamination. Moreover, you can always use our free Removal Guide below. Perhaps it will be what it takes to set your files free and counteract the virus. Still, we can’t promise you such a happy scenario.

Where could Ransomware be found?

Cyber criminals may spread these terrible viruses in many ways:

  • Via emails (and also their attachments): Some of the emails you receive, especially the ones from unknown senders, could be transporting Ransomware versions. Also, the attachments of such emails might be contagious. Our advice is to stay away from all the emails from sources you don’t recognize, and from their attachments also.
  • Via malicious pop-ups and other forms of ads: Malvertising is another major source of Ransomware. If this is the case, your PC may automatically catch some malware, once you click on the contagious ad, whatever way it happens, intentionally or unintentionally.
  • Via fake system requests: One more likely source of Ransomware are fake system requests: the ones that are not produced by your operating system, but serving the same aim as the aforementioned malicious advertisements. Nevertheless, such requests could indeed resemble the genuine ones. So as to avoid such dangers as [email protected], make sure to update your computer manually and look for updates yourself whenever you can.

Some basic tips:

  • Make sure that you don’t pay the demanded ransom right after you get the notification. Look for another possible solution. As you know, your files are already in danger; be smart and do not risk your money as well.
  • Ensure that you really avoid all likely sources of this horrible malware.
  • Purchase the license of the best program against malware. It may involve a little research but checking for the most efficient app is something we promise you will not regret.
