If there is a truly hazardous virus version that is extremely difficult to deal with, this surely is any member of the Ransomware malicious family. The particular virus from the ransom-demanding software family we are talking about here is WannaDie. Usually, this program sneaks into your system without any signs of that and without getting either your direct, or your indirect permission. Following that, it begins an encryption process – all the files WannaDie Ransomware has identified as important to you are its target. During the next stage of the contamination process a ransom is demanded from you via a notification appearing on your monitor. All the other basic features and effects of this kind of viruses are thoroughly discussed in the passages you are going to see below. So, in short you could say that Ransomware is a type of software that has certain harmful effects on your device. And after causing the damage, these viruses normally ask for ransom to be paid in exchange for undoing their malicious activities.

The versions of Ransomware:

The basic types of ransom-requesting software we are aware of are the following ones:

  • THE FILE-ENCRYPTING RANSOMWARE: As a whole, this is the most infamous subtype of Ransomware. What the viruses from this subcategory typically do is they infect your PC (the contamination could take place with the help of a Trojan horse virus, or automatically right after you have come across one of the common sources). Later such a malicious version proceeds with scanning all your drives for the most often accessed files. Following that, WannaDie gets ready to perform the encryption process and for that purpose uses a super complex double key, the components of which are a public and a private one. Then, the scariest part comes – on your screen you will see a frightening message explaining why you owe some hackers a ransom and what could possibly happen to your encrypted data if you fail to provide the needed sum.
  • THE SCREEN-LOCKING RANSOMWARE: This subcategory’s versions can invade your devices in a manner similar to that of the ones from the file-encrypting subtype. The difference is mainly that NO file encryption ever occurs when it comes to the screen-affecting Ransomware versions. It is just that your monitor becomes inaccessible, as a full-screen pop-up is produced, and you become unable to access any icons/shortcuts located there. After that you are asked to pay a ransom for removing the pop-up blocking your screen.
  • THE MOBILE-AFFECTING RANSOMWARE: This subgroup’s members can only affect mobile devices and function in a way similar to that of the abovementioned screen-locking viruses. Once again, your mobile device screen is made inaccessible by the generated ransom-requesting notification, and you are told you have to pay a ransom for the safe decryption of your display.

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

How to Decrypt WannaDie files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

Most infections caused by WannaDie occur under these circumstances:

Of course, there might be many various means of distributing such malware. However, here are the main ones:

  • The process of malvertisingSuch a malicious program could get spread via fake advertisements in different forms that may pop up while you are online. Right after you load such a pop-up, the contamination occurs in an automatic manner.
  • The different forms of spam you come across on a daily basis: Ransomware may or may not come bundled with a Trojan horse virus and get distributed inside a spam email or any of its attachments. So, once you open such an infected attachment or email, you might automatically download this malware
  • All types of contaminated web sites such as torrent, file-sharing, illegal movie- and music-streaming ones.

Is it possible to remove this threat?

Whatever you do, you are going to risk your encrypted files and the future of your system as a whole. This is why we really recommend that you never pay the cyber criminals currently bothering you with ransom demands and threats. Try the other possibly working methods instead:

  • Consult a specialist with some experience with such issues.
  • Purchase a special version of software to try to save your encrypted data.
  • We have attached a Removal Guide here for you to use it for free. Make sure to give it a try!

Always bear in mind that the only means of successfully coping with Ransomware viruses is the process of backing up your data on a regular basis. If you do that, no threats can ever bother you as you will have some extra copies of all the files you really treasure.
