This program is a Browser Hijacker, and it can spam your monitor with various sponsored advertisements, page-redirect links, and eye-catching click-prompts, and it can install modifications inside your browser, that may influence the way your search engine or homepage work. Some internet users may not really mind the ads, and the browser modifications. If you are one of them, we will help you do get rid of the hijacker annoyance. At the end of the page, you will find a detailed removal guide with step-by-step instructions, and a trusted professional removal tool for automatic uninstallation assistance.

What is Window Mix?⠀

Commonly, the first reaction to a Browser Hijacker’s ads stream, and browser modifications is for the user to think that a computer virus might have targeted the computer, and might have taken over the main browser (be it Chrome, Firefox, Explorer or another one). This is confusion is normal since, after all, when there is some unusual activity inside the computer, the word “virus” is the first thing that comes to mind. Moreover, nobody wants to be constantly spammed by “Ads generated by Window Mix ” every time they start a new browsing session. This kind of software, however, is more of an annoyance than an actual direct threat. A real malicious virus such as a Ransomware, or a Trojan can cause some serious issues, as it can corrupt the entire operating system, or extort a lot of money from its victims by holding their digital files hostage until a ransom is paid. Window Mix is not capable of any of those things – it is a simply an advertising tool. Your computer should work just as before once you remove the ad-generating software, and there should be no permanent problems with it. However, until the hijacker gets removed, you will have to deal with a stream of overly intrusive, and annoying advertisements, and different sponsored messages that redirect you to specific sites. These apps can sometimes literally flood the screen with unwelcome pop-ups, banners, and message-boxes that are extremely difficult to remove. This is the reason why hijackers can often be mistaken for viruses by a lot of web users. However, despite their invasive nature, the Browser Hijackers significantly differ from hazardous viruses, or malware such as Ransomware, Spyware or Trojans. They are referred to as potentially unwanted programs by most security experts who see them as a source of browsing disturbance.

Nevertheless, although apps such as Window Mix do not represent a direct security risk, you should still treat them with caution, especially when it comes to the ads, and the sponsored links they display on your screen. The reason is, fake ads, and misleading messages may sometimes sneak into the stream of ads, and redirect you to unsafe or questionable websites if you click on them. That’s why it’s best to uninstall the software that generates these unwanted commercials in order to eliminate the risk of accidentally landing on something dangerous.
