How irritating is this virus?

This page aims to help you remove Error Code 0x800704e8 Scam. These Error Code 0x800704e8 Scam removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

If there is an infection that could be seen as incredibly annoying, yet more or less harmless, this is the one caused by Error Code 0x800704e8. According to the expert’s classification, this program represents an exemplary browser hijacker version, which is capable of modifying your browsers (Firefox/ Chrome/ Opera) in the following ways:

  • by causing some unwanted redirection to pages which you do not want to visit;
  • by broadcasting some very intensely popping up advertisements while you are surfing the web;
  • by removing your beloved homepages and search engines and putting new ones, which you may not like.

The full description of this specific hijacker version, as well as of all of them in general, is available in the text below. Please, read it very carefully so that you will know how to deal with such an infection. These browser-affecting programs are simply advertisement-campaign tools. Their creators are paid to make them generate more ads, cause more redirecting and set various homepages/ search engines. Sometimes it is possible that they may cause your PC to slow down considerably, which will greatly annoy you. What’s more, they could make the entire browsing process impossible by producing too many pop-ups. Consequently, such software has been considered potentially unwanted ever since it has first appeared.

Could these programs be regarded as viruses?

Luckily, there is no proof of the malicious characteristics of any hijacker. Also, you will notice the awfully many differences between them once we compare Error Code 0x800704e8 and a Ransomware virus, for example, below. It is already clear that browser hijackers could and DO only modify your browsers. On the other hand, in case you are dealing with a Ransomware program, you will most definitely face:

  • data encryption with complex encoding (double key with a Private and a Public part);
  • harassment for paying the required ransom (warnings and threats) before the already stated deadline in the ransom-demanding notification;

Also, as you will read in the following paragraph, viruses tend to infect your computer automatically, while the hijackers still need to receive your direct or indirect approval for this purpose. As you can see, an actual virus like the Ransomware-based ones and a normal hijacker like Error Code 0x800704e8 are incredibly different from each other.

Still, if hijackers are not malicious, why can’t you remember approving the installation of such a program?

This is one quite shady quality of almost all the hijackers that exist nowadays. Despite being rather harmless, users still do not want them on their machines and their creators have found a way to distribute them anyway. As a result, the distribution of such software may happen in a secret and confusing way. For the purpose of spreading browser hijackers (and other advertising programs like Adware), programmers have come up with a very effective solution – the creation of bundles. In case you haven’t heard of such a term yet, any bundle is actually a mix of various software (games, programs, apps, Adware, hijackers), which could be accessed for free online. In fact, developers make these mixtures are free in order to make them tempting for the users. What’s more, they may include really fascinating apps and programs inside them to “seduce” the users into downloading and installing such a combo. To be completely honest, the simple act of downloading a program bundle doesn’t involve the process of catching Error Code 0x800704e8. It is only possible to install such a program on your PC if you directly or indirectly agree to do that. That happens by choosing the installation shortcuts – the options of the installer that involve quick and automatic installation process. In case you choose them (the Default/ Quick/ Automatic ones), your system is very likely to end up infected by a hijacker or an Adware.

Which installation option to use in order to avoid programs like Error Code 0x800704e8?

The only wise choices when it comes to the available installation options are the so-called ADVANCED and CUSTOM ones. Please, remember that only these features can ensure your full control over the installation process. In this way you will be able to choose the program features and the exact apps and programs from the bundle that you want on your computer. To avoid these programs, simply learn to implement any installation process in the aforementioned way.
