This page aims to help you remove Windowsguard.today “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

In the article below we will describe the probable origin of your current perhaps unpleasant browsing experience. The program that can be blamed for the continuous flow of pop-ups and banners, for the rapid redirection to some unfamiliar web pages and for the recent modifications to your default browser search engine and homepage is Windowsguard.today “Virus”. The characteristics of this program classify it as a type of browser hijacker. As such, it may affect any of the popular browsing apps that you might be using at the moment – Firefox, Explorer, Opera or Chrome.

Is Windowsguard.today “Virus” a piece of malware?

Perhaps the first question that you can think of is whether your device has been attacked by a virus and that is the reason why your browser app has been modified to such a great extent. Fortunately, though, we have good news for you. You are not dealing with a virus, you are merely experiencing an ad-producing program that might be able to make your browsers act differently. Such modified behavior of your browser apps may involve the aforementioned changes in terms of the number of the broadcast ads, the intensity of the redirecting to different pages and the setting of new, unknown, homepages.

If you had been attacked by any version of a malicious program, the outcome for you could have been absolutely different – mainly much more frightening. Perhaps some of your files would have been encrypted and you would have had been made to pay a ransom to restore them. Certainly, the contamination with a real virus would have led to a total crash of your device, or to the destruction of some precious information. That’s why, you shouldn’t overreact when it comes to Windowsguard.today “Virus” – such a hijacker cannot do any of the malicious activities, mentioned above.

Why do some experts consider Windowsguard.today “Virus” a potentially unwanted program?

There are users who might see the way this program gets distributed and the way it functions as not quite honest or innocent. That has resulted in the identification of this and other browser hijackers as a potentially unwanted software product. Therefore, we would like to discuss in details its features so as to inform you about all the things that it might do. For example, as far as their distribution goes, Hijackers may often be found inside software bundles. Besides that, they might also be present in spam emails, their attachments, shareware, web pages that stream videos and movies, as well as inside torrents. Provided that Windowsguard.today “Virus” has come to your system as a part of a bundle, you have to know that these software combos are legal and programmers tend to create them for their own profit, as they actually get paid for every single ad that is displayed.

Installation of such a hijacker:

Perhaps it is exactly the method of installation that makes this kind of software so shady-looking. You probably know that just downloading a bundle is one thing; however, installing it on your computer and allowing it to install itself into your browsers is a completely different one. Actually, the majority of infected users let this program inside their devices themselves by being rather careless when it comes to the installation options of a particular wizard. Normally, a browser hijacker could enter your PC and you may not even realize it, if you always choose the Quick, Default or Automatic installation options. Here’s one essential safety tip: always use the more time-consuming but nerve-saving installation features, in case you really want to avoid browser hijackers, Ransomware, Trojans and other innocent and/or pretty dangerous cyber threats. These features are almost always called Advanced or Customized.

Some other possible negative effects that Windowsguard.today “Virus” could sometimes have:

In some rare cases, programs like this may cause some quite unpleasant things to your PC. For example, the intense generation of banners, pop-up and box advertisements might result in the slowdown of your entire device. What’s more, some of the redirects that Windowsguard.today “Virus” might be the reason for may lead to places on the Internet that contain malware (even Ransomware threats). Despite that, nothing has been proven so far, and the irritation and the distraction could be the only negative consequences of Windowsguard.today “Virus” that you will have to experience. As for removing this irritating program, you can use the Removal Guide below for its safe uninstallation.
