The number of ads, which Wkalle can provide in a single browsing session, can definitely be annoying but what is even more annoying is its redirecting service. With the help of the newly installed search engine, the hijacker may modify your search results and show you some sponsored web pages instead of the real information you are looking for. You may even be misled and click on links, which may contain potentially unsafe content. While the goal of Wkalle isn’t something malicious and is primarily advertising-oriented, you still cannot be sure which ads and links are legitimate and which may be compromised. Very often, the hackers use methods like melvertising to distribute threats such as Trojans and Ransomware, and it is not excluded that such infected transmitters get displayed on your screen along with the regular ads.
Additionally, the constant redirecting process and ad-generating services may quietly use your processor’s resources to communicate with affiliate sites and load sponsored content on your computer. The biggest problem with this activity is the potential slowdown of the computer and of the affected browser. .
Ways to protect your computer from browser hijackers:
Browser hijackers are not computer viruses and they do not infect you in stealth. In fact, most users install programs like Wkalle “Virus” themselves but they are often unaware of that. That’s why, here, we will give you some tips on how to protect yourself from such programs. When installing free software, you should always choose the User or Advanced Setup installation options. This will allow you to see all bundled components that may have been added to the downloaded software package. If you go for the Standard or Default installation settings, you may not be informed about any added software applications and such might get installed on your PC automatically, alongside the main program. So, to prevent any potentially unwanted components, just click User or Advanced Settings and uncheck the extra components which you do not want to install on your computer.
