If you have received an odd notification with strange content such as this here:

“Your files have been encrypted. So as to have it back, you had better continue reading and provide the necessary payment of a sum of money in this and this currency to this or that account. If you fail to proceed with the demanded payment in a timely manner, your encrypted files are never going to be accessible again.”,

your device has been infiltrated by a Ransomware-type virus known as [email protected] In the next few paragraphs we are discussing all its bothering effects, and all the possible dangers resulting from the infection such viruses cause.

Be cautious: the most terrible viruses you can ever face are based on Ransomware

[email protected] Ransomware and its group-mates viruses indeed bring serious danger to your PC. For sure, they are the most intrusive cyber-threats that could ever attack your system without your informed approval. In case you are wondering how these viruses are able to do that, it sometimes happens with the “kind assistance” of another virus program – a Trojan horse. The Trojan searches for a weakness in your system and the programs installed, and if there is such, it DOES find it. After that, it unleashes [email protected] Ransomware inside the attacked device. Immediately after these two malicious programs are inside your system, they start implementing their own dangerous activities and agenda.

The Ransomware prepares a very detailed list of all the files that are used most frequently: based on a research of your disks and drives. Next, all the predetermined data ends up sealed and inaccessible. For that purpose an elaborate key made-up of of two parts is used. The scammers who have attacked you and your PC are normally “polite enough” to give you the Public component of this encryption key. Nevertheless, in order to get the second component,  they typically make you pay a ransom. In fact, you realize you are being blackmailed immediately after you see the ransom-requesting notification on your monitor, and its content usually looks like the one mentioned in the intro above.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC at the same time and go to the Processes Tab. Try to determine which processes are dangerous.

Right click on each of them and select Open File Location. Then scan the files with our free online virus scanner:

Drag and Drop Files Here to Scan
Maximum file size: 128MB.

This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users. You can find its full-page version at: https://howtoremove.guide/online-virus-scanner/

After you open their folder, end the processes that are infected, then delete their folders.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold the Start Key and R –  copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

hosts_opt (1)

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

How to Decrypt [email protected] files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

How are such viruses distributed?

Almost all the things on the Internet can be possible sources of [email protected] Such a virus loves hiding mainly inside spam letters in your emails; and perhaps even inside the attachments of those letters. What’s more, we can often find such malware on contaminated web sites and suspicious-looking torrents, videos, and shareware. How exactly you have come across this Ransomware doesn’t really matter, it is possible that you may have also been infected by a Trojan version.

What to do when dealing with such a horrifying infection?

Such a virus infection may be practically impossible to counteract. Even some real good experts might find it incredibly complicated and time-consuming to treat Ransomware contaminations. The reason why such infections must be coped with carefully is that even the act of removing the infection itself may not be enough to decrypt the hijacked data, and it might eventually get lost for good. Every attacked user should make their own decision about whether they want to try removing [email protected] and risk their already sealed files; or whether they just want to provide the ransom, and trust the process, in this way  risking both their encrypted files and the money sent to the hackers.

Remember! In case the ransom has been fully paid on time, the cyber criminals might still never restore your access to the affected files. They cannot care less about the future of your data after they receive your money they might get motivated to ask for some more, so carefully consider all other options before paying.

You still have other alternatives and you may have success with them

Sincerely, our advice is to risk not providing the demanded ransom, as indeed whatever you do, you will risk your encrypted data. For this purpose, try saving your files and removing [email protected] by using our Removal Guide at the end of this article. We really hope that it will solve your issues with this malicious program. Nonetheless, we can’t promise for sure that it’s really going to be what you need to get rid of the infection. However, it’s worth a try!
