.Wtf File Ransomware

Why is Ransomware so dangerous?

Ransomware infections pretty much differ from the normal viruses. They typically operate in a unique way, which basically ensures their success and popularity within criminal circles. Once a threat like .Wtf gets inside your system, it usually initiates a deep system scan in search for specific file types. These normally include the most commonly used files such as documents, images, audio and video files, and even system files. The moment it detects them, the Ransomware begins to apply a very complex encryption algorithm to all of them and one by one renders them inaccessible. The encryption process usually takes some time, but since it lacks any visible symptoms, most affected users may not come to know about the malware. The antivirus may also fail to detect the file encryption process as malicious and may not signalize an infection, this way leaving the virus to finish its dirty job without being interrupted.

When all the files become inaccessible, there is no need for the Ransomware to hide anymore. In fact, it reveals itself in a shocking way – with a threatening ransom notification on your screen or in a text file, placed in each folder, containing encrypted data. With its help, the criminals, who have created the infection, demand a certain amount of money in exchange for a decryption key. They use various manipulative techniques, tempting promises of fast and flawless file recovery, threats and even bargain offers. It is very important for you not to take the bait and enter into negotiations with the hackers, though. It may seem like the easiest solution to simply pay what they want (if you can afford it), get a decryption key and save your data. However, let’s think about the risks for a second. Trusting a cyber criminal to fulfill their promises isn’t the smartest thing. What if the hackers simply vanish with the money without giving you the key? Or what if that key doesn’t work? What about keeping this nasty malware on your system all that time? Every reputed security expert would tell you that this is not wise at all.

Instead of giving your money to the hackers, we would recommend you first try every other available alternatives. For instance, if you remove .Wtf from your system with the help of the Removal Guide below, you may still have a small chance to save some of your data without paying anything. Besides, you will clean your computer from a dangerous infection with very sophisticated malicious abilities. Once you have deleted the Ransomware, we encourage you to use any file backups you may have to get back your files. Also, it is very important to protect your PC from possible future attacks. For that, make sure you update to the latest OS version, install a reputed antivirus program, specialized in Ransomware protection, and avoid any potential malware transmitters such as spam emails, pop-ups ads, insecure links, sketchy websites, pirate content, etc.
