How could one get infected?

There are many ways in which a Trojan horse may get inside your system. Usually, one of the most successful tactics that the criminals use in order to infect the computer is to mislead the users with regards to the real nature and intentions of the malware. They oftentimes promote their harmful creations as some sort of useful free programs, browser add-ons or intriguing links and email attachments which prompt you to click on them. Legitimate-looking messages which inform you about “urgent software updates”, some “recommended installations” or pop-up web requests might also be used as transmitters of the infection. That’s why, you should be very careful if such things appear on your screen and ask you to download some .exe files or agree to install something on your machine. In most of the cases, there is a high chance that they could be fake and misleading. To prevent possible contamination, it is best if you only stick to well-known and reputed websites and get your updates and downloads only from the original software developers and their websites.
