Ygl Search

Ygl Search is a browser hijacker that automatically page-redirects the user’s online searches with the goal to improve the view counts of certain sites. Ygl Search can also manipulate elements of the browser such as the search engine, the toolbar, or the homepage to show online ads.

The yglSearch virus would be presented to the user under the guise of a regular and seemingly useful add-on for their browsers

This type of software is very widespread and most users get apps that belong to it installed on their devices without even realizing it. In most cases, the browser hijacker would be presented to the user under the guise of a regular and seemingly useful add-on for their browsers. Sometimes, the unwanted app may even offer the user some kind of a useful function in order to remain on the system for longer. However, it is almost always guaranteed that if an app like Ygl Search, Main Captcha Top is attached to your Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, or another browser it will ruin your browsing experience and cause all kinds of unpleasant disturbances and issues. In addition, it is possible that the unwelcome presence of this software on your computer could result in the creation of security weaknesses in the system that could get exploited by more serious threats. If you don’t make sure that YglSearch gets uninstalled as soon as possible, the chances of encountering Trojans, Phishing malware, Ransomware, Spyware, and other harmful online threats would go up.

YglSearch

YglSearch , itself, is not a harmful computer virus and it doesn’t have any damaging abilities. Though YglSearch may seem a bit too aggressive due to the constant page-redirects it spams you with and the changes it has imposed on your browser, YglSearch is not intended to cause damage to your system or files and so it is not considered as a major threat.

The problem with it, however, as well as the reason this type of apps is seen as unsafe, stems from the fact that they are likely to promote all kinds of content within your browser, including such that might be hazardous to your system. We already mentioned how you are more likely to get attacked by a Ransomware virus or a Trojan Horse if you have a hijacker on your computer and that is because you can never be certain if the redirects and the ads coming from YglSearch won’t land you on sites that are used to spread such threats. Even if you do your best to stay away from the content promoted by the hijacker, you could still accidentally end up interacting with it and this could expose your PC to danger. Therefore, it is simply better to remove Ygl Search as this will cease its constant attempts to advertise different sites and products on your screen.

If you have never had to deal with a browser hijacker before, it might be a bit difficult to fully eliminate YglSearch that is currently in your system. However, if you closely follow the steps and guidelines that we’ve prepared for you on this page, you should be able to quickly get rid of YglSearch and make sure that there’s nothing left from it on your computer.

How to remove YglSearch?

To try and remove Ygl Search quickly you can try this:

  1. Check that the hijacked browser has been launched. Then, select More Tools (or Add-ons) from the main menu, which is typically situated in the top right corner of the browser’s window.
  2. After that, open the Extensions window.
  3. Look through the list of extensions to determine if there are any extensions that are interfering with your browsing experience.
  4. Disable and uninstall YglSearch and any other browser add-ons or extensions that you do not want to keep in your browser’s list of extensions.
  5. After you have finished deleting everything suspicious or potentially unwanted, open a new tab and use the browser for a while to see how it operates.

If removing the potentially unwanted browser extensions does not resolve your hijacker-related issue, please see our comprehensive YglSearch removal guide, which may be found below.

Prior to commencing the removal guide, click here for information on how to restart your computer in Safe Mode. Also, make sure you bookmark this page, which contains directions for deleting Ygl Search from your computer so that you don’t lose it while completing the rest of the steps.

After the system restarts in Safe Mode, you need to open System Configuration by entering the command msconfig into the Windows search field and pressing the Enter key. Check the Startup tab for any suspicious items, and uncheck the checkbox for any Startup items that you suspect are related to the hijacker. As soon as you’re finished, click OK to save your changes and close the window.

Next, press and hold the WinKey and the R key together until the Run box appears on the screen. Type appwiz.cpl in the Run box and press Enter. To determine whether any programs are related to the Ygl Search browser hijacker, review the list of applications on your computer and arrange the newly installed programs by the date of installation to see which ones were installed recently.

You must uninstall all the Ygl Search-related software, as well as any other components (or hijackers) that may have been installed as a result of its installation. The process of uninstalling software is as simple as selecting the unwanted program, clicking Uninstall at the top of the screen, and then following the on-screen instructions. Once you’ve completed the steps, simply close the Control Panel window to complete the process.

Follow the methods outlined below to completely eliminate any remaining traces of YglSearch from Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and any other browser that you may have installed on your computer:

Begin by right-clicking on the shortcut icon for the hijacked browser to bring up a quick menu of options. Then, from the quick menu, select Properties.

After that, from the tabs at the top of the Properties window, select Shortcut.

If you discover that anything has been added after .exe in the Target box, please be sure to remove it as soon as possible.

Then, from the main menu of the hijacked browser, select Manage Add-ons/More Tools>>Extensions.

Extensions that are related to Ygl Search and its activities should be disabled and then removed with care and caution.

If the homepage of your browser has been modified, and you want to fix it, check the browser’s homepage (located in the Settings section of the main menu) and remove any sponsored URLs that have been added there without your permission.

Additionally, you may wish to close your browser and go to this location:

     C:/Users/!!!!USER NAME!!!!/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data.

The Default folder’s name should be changed to Backup Default, and then you should restart your browser for the changes to take effect.

In the fifth step, type the following command into a Run command box which you can open by pressing the Windows key and the R key at the same time:

    notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

Next, press the Enter key, and you will see a file named Hosts on your screen. Then, take a look at the image below, and if you detect anything unusual under Localhost, please let us know about it in the comments section at the end of this article.

Before you close this guide, it is important to browse over your Registry and see if there are any entries that were introduced by Ygl Search that you aren’t aware of. Immediately after clicking on the Start button, type regedit in the Windows search bar and hit the Enter key.

In order to search for hijacker-related entries in the Registry Editor, hold down the CTRL and F keys simultaneously, then type the hijacker’s name in the Find box and click Find Next to begin searching for potentially unwanted entries. Remove anything that you suspect is associated with Ygl Search, but please don’t delete anything you aren’t sure about.

Manually searching the following directories for hijacker-related entries may also be effective in removing traces of Ygl Search from the system:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random Directory.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—-Windows—CurrentVersion—Run– Random.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random.

Please do not make any modifications to the registry if you are unsure whether a file or a folder should be removed from it. Instead, scan your system and any suspicious files with a professional removal application, such as the one available on this page, or a free online virus scanner to identify and remove any viruses.
