Lkysearchds
Lkysearchds is a form of browser-infecting malware that installs in the targeted browser like an extension and then alters its settings. Lkysearchds will give the browser a new search engine and page-redirect the user to promotional sites. Another change that this app might make is to replace the addresses of the new-tab page and the homepage of the browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.).
This allows it to automatically draw traffic to certain sites each time the user starts their browser. As a whole, the purpose of this type of apps is similar and it almost always revolves around some form of online promotion. The changes that get introduced to the browser are supposed to turn it into a platform for online advertising. Of course, the ads, the redirects, and even the new search engine and homepage are all there to ensure that the creators of Lkysearchds are able to generate as much money from online promotion as possible, which is why the behavior of this unwanted app tends to be rather aggressive.
Lkysearchds for Mac
Lkysearchds for Mac is malware that gets in the browser and modifies some of its settings in order to generate ads and page-redirects in it. Apps like Lkysearchds for Mac typically get distributed using installer-bundles. It is exactly because of this you must be very considerate with regard to the software you download on your Mac. Never get new apps and programs from unknown or unreliable sources. Also, do not download anything that might be pirated because illegally distributed software such as pirated programs and apps oftentimes hide malware or unwanted components like browser hijackers in them. In some cases, you may be able to notice the presence of the added hijacker in the installer and uncheck it before you proceed with the installation process, which would allow you to leave out the unwanted app and only get the one you are interested in. In other instances, however, this may not be an option.
The Lkysearchds Virus
Lkysearchds is a Mac junkware app that latches onto commonly used browsing programs like Firefox or Safari and forces them to redirect you to ad-filled web locations. It is possible that Lkysearchds redirects you to unsafe sites that may expose your Mac to danger.
This browser hijacker isn’t a particularly dangerous app in and of itself, however, the ads and the redirects it exposes you to may not be as harmless. You are probably aware of the fact that various malware threats like Trojans, Spyware, and Ransomware oftentimes get distributed by means of malvertisement. Having an app that spams you with questionable ads is, therefore, a potential security hazard for your system.
The Lkysearchds app
The Lkysearchds app is a rogue application that hijacks the browsers of Mac machines and installs page-redirecting components in them. The Lkysearchds app will change the default search engine and replace the address of the new tab page in order to show paid ads. Those paid ads may not always be what they appear to be and may potentially expose your computer to harm. Removing the browser hijacker will stop them and that’s why we advise you to uninstall it right now.

Same problem. I can remove the extension, but the chrome setting does not allow (grayed out) the default search engien.
i found the solution to this problem after trying everything I could find online. It was in network settings, it was a SOCKS Proxy box checked off, that was causing a redirect and my mac mail to go on and offline constantly
