    Is Luckypuppy.xyz a virus?

However, these types of software have nothing to do with viruses and shouldn’t be mistaken for them. All they are programmed to do is display as much advertising materials in your browser as possible. And ideally, you should also click on the sponsored messages, so that the developers can earn revenue from this. But there are certain risks that go hand in hand with browser hijackers like Luckypuppy.xyz and Total ReCaptcha, and one of them is encountering malware such as Trojan horse viruses, ransomware and so on. This may happen as a result of being redirected to some site or webpage that’s been tampered with by hackers. Or you might even happen to click on a fake ad, which security experts refer to as malvertisements.
Either way, we recommend always being extremely cautious with any type of content that you come across when browsing the web.
But you may be wondering how Luckypuppy.xyz came to be in your system in the first place. Well, there are several possibilities. The most likely on, however, is that you downloaded some other piece of software, and the hijacker was attached to its installer. This is a common distribution technique called program bundling. And unless you utilize the advanced or custom setup as opposed to the simpler default or automatic one, you will end up installing any type of added components there may be alongside the main program.
