Oscorp is a browser hijacker that typically gets installed in Android web browsers, therefore, users who have smartphones or tablets based on android may often come across this application.

Oscorp is famous for making hard-to-ignore changes in the appearance and the settings of the main web browser. The app has been considered potentially unwanted because it replaces the homepage and/or the default search engine without asking for approval from the users.

If you have this app on your android smartphone or tablet, you can also note that your Chrome, Safari, or whichever is the browser that you are using has a new toolbar. However, the hardest thing to ignore from the very first moment you install this hijacker is the never-ending stream of pop-up ads, banners, and redirect links on your screen. As soon as you start a browsing session, you may be flooded with sponsored search results and different blinking boxes that prompt you to click on them.

All this disturbance is done in the name of profit, generated through Pay-Per-Click remuneration models. The developers of apps like Oscorp earn from every click on the displayed ads, and this is also why it is often quite challenging to remove this software from your android device – the developers want to earn from it as much as possible.

On a positive note, Oscorp isn’t a virus or some dangerous Trojan or ransomware that can damage your smartphone or tablet. Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Settings/More/Application Manager/All

Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.

Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:

For “Internet” Browser Users:

Tap the Force Stop button.

Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.

For Google Chrome Users:

Click on  Force Stop.

Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.

If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.
