Flubot
FluBot is a potentially unwanted application that Android users may detect on their smartphone or tablet. The app is impossible to ignore because it typically diverts the main browser into an ad-generating and page-redirecting tool and uses it to show different nagging advertisements, pop-up updates, and banners on the screen of the smart device without asking for permission.
At first sight, FluBot may look quite disturbing and this is mostly due to the fact that many of its activities may resample a virus infection. For instance, the app may change the home page and/or the default search engine of your browser on its own. The software may also start rerouting you to multiple websites and prompting you to click on their links and offers, without giving you an option to stop that.
In addition to being very intrusive to your browsing experience, the activities of FluBot may often have negative effects on your smartphone’s or tablet’s general output and security. You may start experiencing browser unresponsiveness, freezing of the screen, and sudden crashes that may definitely leave you with the impression that something is wrong with your Android device.
To your relief, though, this unwanted application is not a harmful Trojan Horse virus, a Spyware, or a Ransomware infection. FluBot is classified as a browser hijacker which is a type of software that is usually unable to do real harm.
Still, this cannot be said about its on-screen advertisements, pop-ups, and redirects that may not be so secure. Therefore, it is best to uninstall the browser hijacker app if you want to minimize the risk of landing on sketchy online ads or websites with a questionable reputation.

Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Settings/More/Application Manager/All
Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.
Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:
For “Internet” Browser Users:
Tap the Force Stop button.
Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.
For Google Chrome Users:
Click on Force Stop.
Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.
- Important!
If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.
However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.
