Duck Extension
Duck Extension is an unwanted malware app that has the ability to hijack the settings of your Windows browser after getting installed through a file-bundle. Duck Extension will set a new homepage address, install a page-redirecting service in the browser, and replace its regular search engine.
A browser hijacker is a small piece of software that is normally added as a bonus application to the installers of free programs. Most users overlook the fact that there might be some added elements to the installer and install the main program without customizing its setup settings. This, in turn, allows potentially unwanted apps like Duck Extension and other browser hijackers to enter the computer. Once Duck Extension gets installed, it integrates with the system’s main browser. Which the main browser is is oftentimes irrelevant – apps like Duck Extension and Cog Extension are have a wide range of compatibility, and they can be installed inside most browsers. Of course, it is more common to find a hijacker in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, but this is because these browsers are the most popular ones.
The Duck Extension Chrome Virus
Changes in the default search engine tool, the homepage, and the new-tab page addresses, as well as intrusive page-redirects are likely to start to occur once the Duck Extension Chrome virus gets added to the browser. These changes are usually done in order to make the user visit sites that the Duck Extension Chrome virus is programmed to advertise and promote.
For instance, the search engine that Duck Extension has introduced to your browser might show you modified results that favor certain sites that you may not really want to visit. Also, the replacement of the homepage would ensure that each time you open a new browsing session, you’d be automatically boosting the traffic to a certain site. The hijacker is also likely to install new elements in the browser such as page-redirecting services, which would occasionally land you on sites different from the ones you are actually trying to visit.
Needless to say, the activities of Duck Extension , and the chances it make in the browser are sure to quickly decrease the quality of your online Internet experience, and make you want to uninstall the invasive program. The problem here is that you may not be able to – at least not without some external help. You see, the aps of this category are notorious for the difficulty of their removal. Unlike normal programs, most hijackers would probably not let you uninstall them the normal way – they tend to not have uninstallation managers, and they oftentimes do not show up in the extensions list of the browser from where all legitimate add-ons can be removed. This significantly increases the difficulty level of the removal process of apps like Duck Extension , but that is not to say that with proper guidance you won’t be able to get rid of this intrusive program.
In case you are here in order to seek help for the removal of this particular hijacker application, you should definitely take a look at the guide we have prepared for our readers on this page. Our suggestion is to complete the steps you will see there and, to make sure there’s nothing left from the hijacker in your system, try out the highly-effective removal tool that will be linked down this post. If you do everything correctly, you should be able to get the state of your browser back to normal in no time.
