Eeyu

Eeyu is a malicious ransomware-based virus that searches the computer for specific file types and encrypts them all with a complex encryption code. The purpose of Eeyu is to demand a ransom from the owner for the decryption of the encrypted files.

Ransomware infections are some of the most problematic and hard-to-remove infections that web users may encounter. They are designed to blackmail web users either by blocking access to the screen of their computer or by encrypting the files that are stored there for indefinite period of time or until the victim agrees to pay a ransom.

In most cases, there is no 100% sure way of dealing with the consequences of these threats. Even the fact that you may have a very professional and strong antivirus program may not be enough to save you from the infection and the effects of its attack, especially when it comes to new cryptoviruses such as Eeyu, Eemv and Eewt.

One of the explanations for this is that this kind of malware isn’t meant to destroy the customer or its data, but instead, it is aimed at simply encrypting certain files and rendering them inaccessible. This allows the criminals behind the infection to blackmail the users for a ransom if they want to regain access.

Unfortunately, the encryption of files does not compromise the security of the system and, therefore, many antivirus programs do not mark this as an unsafe or harmful process that should be stopped. This, in turn, contributes to the failure of the security software to identify the ransomware cryptovirus on time.

The Eeyu virus

The Eeyu virus is the new software hazard of the ransomware class which may lock up all the data found on your computer in minutes with the help of a military-grade encryption. Typically, the Eeyu virus does trigger visible symptoms of its presence until the file-encryption is done, which makes it almost impossible to identify.

Few users may experience slowdowns in their computers or general device instability, but this is not always a very significant symptoms. This, of course, allows the malware to have more than ample time to finish the encryption process in the background of the system. After this, the virus then displays a message from the hackers who stay behind it that the data on the infected computer can no longer be accessed without a special decryption key. In this message, the crooks provide details on how to obtain the key by making a ransom payment to a specific cryptocurrency wallet.

The Eeyu file decryption

The Eeyu file decryption is a process of file recovery that enables data encrypted by the Eeyu virus to be returned back to is usual state. To complete the Eeyu file decryption process,  the victims need a special key which is available only against a fixed amount of money as a ransom.

Naturally, some people might think about paying the ransom in order to get their files back, but we have to warn you that this course of action doesn’t guarantee the full recovery of your data. The hackers can easily take all the money and keep the decryption key for themselves or try to blackmail you again. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do anything but only hope that they will eventually fulfill their promise. If that doesn’t happen, however, you will lose your money in vain and will still need to look for other solutions. That’s why, if you have been infected with Eeyu but don’t have the money for the decryption key or you simply don’t want to pay to some anonymous crooks, you can search for other methods of file-recovery. In the removal guide below you will find a few suggestions and a professional removal tool that can help you remove Eeyu from your system.

Right click on each of them and select Open File Location. Then scan the files with our free online virus scanner:

Each file will be scanned with up to 64 antivirus programs to ensure maximum accuracy
This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users.
This file is not matched with any known malware in the database. You can either do a full real-time scan of the file or skip it to upload a new file. Doing a full scan with 64 antivirus programs can take up to 3-4 minutes per file.

This scanner is based on VirusTotal's API. By submitting data to it, you agree to their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and to the sharing of your sample submission with the security community. Please do not submit files with personal information if you do not want them to be shared.

After you open their folder, end the processes that are infected, then delete their folders.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

    Step3

Hold the Start Key and R – copy + paste the following and click OK:

    notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

    hosts_opt (1)

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

    msconfig_opt

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

    • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.
    Step4

Type Regedit in the windows search field and press Enter. Once inside, press CTRL and F together and type the virus’s Name.

Search for the ransomware in your registries and delete the entries. Be extremely careful – you can damage your system if you delete entries not related to the ransomware.

Type each of the following in the Windows Search Field:

    1. %AppData%
    2. %LocalAppData%
    3. %ProgramData%
    4. %WinDir%
    5. %Temp%

Delete everything in Temp. The rest just check out for anything recently added. Remember to leave us a comment if you run into any trouble!

    How to Decrypt Eeyu files

Files encrypted by Eeyu ransomware may not be decrypted successfully using methods developed for other ransomware strains. So, the first thing you should do when choosing a method for data recovery is to look at the file extensions of the encrypted files and figure out which type of ransomware was used to encrypt them.

Next, you should check the infected system thoroughly with a robust anti-virus program, like the one we provide on our site. This is necessary in order to ensure that all traces of malware have been removed before you take any further file-recovery action. Don’t underestimate how important this system check is, because if you do, you could cause expensive damage and lose data.

    New Djvu Ransomware

STOP Djvu is a kind of ransomware that secretly encrypts files and appends the .Eeyu suffix at the end of each of them. If the Eeyu encryption has prevented you from accessing your files, do not give up hope yet. The decryptor at the link below may help you decrypt some of the encrypted data, and you will lose nothing if you give it a try.

    https://www.emsisoft.com/ransomware-decryption-tools/stop-djvu

In order to install the decryptor, click on the link above and download the STOPDjvu executable file on your ransomware-free computer. Decrypting your data is as simple as reading and following the steps given in the software’s instructions. Please be aware that, despite its promising potential to decrypt data, this application may not be able to decode files that have been encrypted using unknown offline keys or only encryption.

Once again, before you try to recover any files, please remove all traces of the ransomware from the infected system. The best way to ensure that Eeyu is gone for good is to use the professional malware removal application recommended on this page. Another tool that you can use to find possibly harmful files is the online virus scanner that may be accessed through the link.
