Freeadvworld
Freeadvworld can spam you with ads, redirect your searchers to unknown pages, replace the browser’s search engine or its homepage address and cause many other forms of browsing disturbance. Freeadvworld can affect most common browsing programs, such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge.
The nagging ads generated by software apps like Freeadvworld and McAfee Virus Popup are sure to bring frustration to anyone who gets to experience them in their browser. Unfortunately, Freeadvworld and other representatives of the same software category (called browser hijackers) are a very commonly encountered software annoyance and many users do not actually know how to properly deal with them. At the same time, pretty much everyone who gets to face such an app in their system is willing to remove the hijacker at once because the nagging application normally makes the Internet browsing of the user quite unpleasant.
Another problem with apps like Freeadvworld is that they are quite difficult to properly remove from a computer. You may try to remove the app from the Control Panel on your computer or from the extensions menu in the browser but that is oftentimes not enough. It’s highly likely that even after you’ve seemingly uninstalled the hijacker, the nagging app can come back to bother you the very next instance you open your browser.
This is why we have written this post – to help our readers who may have Freeadvworld in their browsers successfully uninstall and remove the invasive software from their computers. The information and instructions that you may need in order to remove Freeadvworld can be found in the removal guide right below.
The Freeadvworld Virus
The reason we say that has to do with the unreliable nature of the Freeadvworld virus. While the Freeadvworld virus certainly not as dangerous as problematic viruses and malware programs like ransomware, spyware and Trojans, it is still not to be trusted, particularly due to the nature of the ads that it may show on your screen.
It’s well known that online ads can be dangerous if their source is some sketchy and obscure website and even though Freeadvworld won’t purposefully show you hazardous commercial content, it is still not impossible that some of its advertisements may be linked to sketchy online locations that you shouldn’t be visiting. You certainly don’t want to get some nasty Trojan or a malicious ransomware virus on your computer. And for that reason we once again need to remind you that it is important to act quickly and eliminate the ad-generating software from your machine. The guide above contains all the instructions and details you may need in order to safely remove the annoying app and bring your browsing program to its normal state.

You can see what’s running in the background of your computer with a few mouse clicks. As a first step, type “task manager” in the Windows search bar and press Enter to open the Windows Task Manager. Look in the Processes tab for processes with unusual names or high CPU/RAM usage, as well as processes that are related to page-redirects and ad-generation.
For each suspicious process, open the context menu by right-clicking on it and selecting Open File Location. If you right-click on the process name and open the file location folder, you’ll see all of the associated files.
In order to ensure that these files are not infected, run a scan on them. Below you’ll find a free scanner you can use to scan your files.
Delete any scanned files that your scanner flags as potentially harmful. In order to get rid of those files, however, you may first need to stop the process that relies on them. In the Task Manager, right-click on the process and choose “End Process” from the quick menu that appears. After that, return to the original File Location folder and try to remove any dangerous files that may be stored there.
Next, you need to manually search your computer for any potentially harmful software in the third step. Hold down the Windows key and the R key at the same time. Using the Run box that appears, type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
In the Control Panel window, you can see a list of all installed software. Sort the results by the date they were installed to see the most recent ones. Make sure you’ve done your research before attempting to uninstall any software. In order to remove a browser hijacker from your computer, you must first identify the specific program that is linked to the hijacker and then click the Uninstall button to remove it from your system. Exit the Control Panel by closing it, and then continue with the rest of this guide’s instructions.
After typing msconfig in the Windows search bar, press the Enter key. System Configuration will appear on the screen.
The Startup tab in System Configuration can be used to see and disable startup items associated with Freeadvworld. Remove the checkmarks from the hijacker’s startup items to prevent them from being activated when your computer is restarted.

In the next step, you’ll check the configurations of your system for DNS changes.
- In the Windows search field, type “Network Connections” and press Enter.
- By right-clicking on the network adapter you’re currently using, you can access the quick menu and select Properties.
- Select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (ICP/IP) settings and then click on the Properties button at the bottom right of the new window.
- Select Obtain a DNS server address automatically with the cursor and click the Advanced settings button.
- Select the DNS tab and click Remove in the newly displayed window to get rid of any unwanted DNS entries. The changes you’ve made will be saved once you click OK.
Open a new Run window by pressing both Windows and R at the same time. Afterward, enter the command below and press the OK button to run it:
notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts
Your Notepad should now have opened a new file called Hosts. Make sure that none of the IP addresses listed below “localhost” are suspicious.
If you find any untrustworthy addresses in the file you should copy them and post them in the comments below this guide. We will take a look at them and let you know if we find a danger.
To remove browser hijackers, you must search your computer’s registry for entries that are associated with potentially unwanted software. If these registry entries are not deleted, the potentially unwanted software can reinstall itself. Please read each and every one of the following steps in full, to get rid of Freeadvworld successfully.
Type regedit in the Windows search bar and hit the Enter key from the keyboard. Registry Editor will be displayed.
Open a Find window in the Registry Editor by holding down the CTRL key and pressing F. If you know the hijacker’s name, it’s simple to conduct a search. The Find Next button can be used to find any hijacker entries that have the same name as the hijacker you want to get rid of. To remove a detected object, select “Delete” from the context menu of the right-click button.
Manually searching the Editor’s left panel can be done if the Find box returns no results.
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random Directory.
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—-Windows—CurrentVersion—Run– Random
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random
Incorrect removal of Registry entries can cause problems with your computer’s operating system and applications. For this reason, you should pay extreme caution when dealing with registry files. With a virus removal program like the one on this page, you can easily remove malicious software and potentially unwanted programs from your computer’s registry.
Instead of checking all of their browsers for hijacker-associated changes, users tend to concentrate their efforts on removing the unwanted software from their primary browser. This method, however, leaves the hijacker in place in the other browsers. Therefore, we’ve put together a how-to for removing the hijacker from three popular browsers.
Right-click on the shortcut icon of the browser and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
This will open the Properties window on the screen. Check the Target section of the Shortcut tab to see if anything new has been added after .exe. After removing all the items, as shown on the image below, you can save your changes by clicking the OK button.
