Access Side

Access Side is a web browser component that security experts categorize as a browser hijacker. Access Side attaches to popular Mac browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Firefox and makes changes to their settings and operation.

Access Side

The Access Side Virus targets Mac.

Typically, what Access Side does is to replace the browser’s default search engine with a new one that is specifically designed to generate sponsored search results. Furthermore, the program usually sets up a new homepage and installs some helper components that facilitate the generation of aggressive pop-up ads, banners and similar commercials on every web page the users visit. The users that have this browser hijacker in their Mac computer usually complain that they experience automatic redirects to sites that they have never visited before which adds up to their decision to permanently remove the intrusive program from their system.

Fortunately, Access Side is not a virus, a Ransomware or a Trojan Horse and can be uninstalled from a Mac computer without leaving any negative consequences of its presence. Users who want to do that should either use a detailed removal guide like the one below or a professional removal tool that can rid them off the browser hijacker in a few clicks.

Access Side for Mac

Access Side for Mac is a browser hijacking software that web users frequently confuse with a virus or malware. In reality, however, Access Side is a relatively harmless application that aims at promoting specific products and services and redirecting user searches to the websites that sell them.

The positive thing about Access Side is that it won’t damage your Mac in a serious way. Once you uninstall it, your system and your web browser can be used as before which is something almost impossible if you get infected with, let’s say a Ransomware cryptovirus or a Trojan Horse infection. That is because a browser hijacker doesn’t encrypt your files and doesn’t destroy your information or your software. It only “hijacks” your main web browser in order to use it for the display of various types of promotional web content.

What is Access Side?

Access Side is a browser hijacking program that is used to increase the visibility of specific websites by aggressively promoting them on the users’ screen. To facilitate its promotional activities, Access Side typically installs some page-redirect add-ons and ad-generating components inside the system’s main web browser.

Despite lacking the harmful abilities of a computer virus, however, an app like Access Side can still cause a lot of disturbance to your web browsing experience and can quickly become an unwanted piece of software inside your Mac. This is because such a program can not only behave very intrusively but it  also can affect your online safety in a rather negative way and contribute to the potential exposure to security hazards. For instance, Access Side may install different third-party components inside your web browser without asking for approval. It may also change the search engine, install some shortcut buttons to low-quality pages, clutter the browser with unnecessary toolbars and spam the screen with pop-ups and banners that redirect to different websites the moment you click on them.

The AccessSide app

The AccessSide app is a browser hijacker that does not request approval from the users when it makes its browser changes. The AccessSide app automatically modifies the search engine and the homepage domain and starts to fill the screen of the browser with hard-to-remove ads, pop-up notifications and banners.

The changes that Access Side makes to the browser cannot be removed or uninstalled easily which is why many web users believe that they have been infected with a hard-to-remove virus rather than a browser hijacker. The guide below, however, explains how to get rid of this program without facing any unnecessary security risks or negative consequences.

Name Access Side
Type Browser Hijacker
Danger Level Medium (nowhere near threats like Ransomware, but still a security risk)
Symptoms Aggressive ads all over the screen, a change in the browser’s homepage address, a new search engine.
Distribution Method Automatic installation managers, torrents, free file bundles, spam messages, ads.
