Is Adult.yourblocksite.com a virus-like software?
Unlike a real threat, the browser hijacking application looks like an ordinary search tool and doesn’t usually seek to harm your PC. It operates on the basis of ad-generation and sponsored page-redirects. The people who create and own applications such as Adult.yourblocksite.com are not criminals. They are usually marketers and online advertisers who try to promote certain web pages, search engine tools, homepages, ads and ad-supported software on the users’ screen while they are browsing the web. These people usually earn Pay-Per-Click revenue for doing the advertising. Therefore, even if the advertising campaign conducted by the hijacker is rather aggressive, it is probably not going to directly cause harm to your machine.
The issues, that a browser hijacker like Adult.yourblocksite.com could cause are typically the following:
- The ad-generating software may replace the users’ browser settings and set its own default search tool, new tab URL or homepage domain.
- It may download and install new browser extensions without the users’ permission.
- It may initiate automatic page redirects to sponsored web pages or even to some potentially unsafe content.
- This application may display intrusive ads and gather browsing-related data for the purpose of its effective advertising and promotional campaigns.
Generally, the majority of browser hijackers are capable of modifying and redirecting the web searches as well as gathering some non-personally identifiable data and browsing-related information. This activity is quite necessary for their advertising purposes and is mostly not forbidden by the law. But the main concern for the users here is that the collected data might be shared with some unknown third parties and used for more aggressive ad-generation on their screen.
Another concern, which raises from the typical behavior of the hijacker is that, due to the changes that this software may impose on their search results and browsing settings, at some point the users might be exposed to unfamiliar web pages or dangerous advertisements which could be potential carriers of real viruses such as Trojans, Spyware, Ransomware, etc. For this reason, even though browser hijackers like Adult.yourblocksite.com do not typically possess dangerous features on their own, their invasion may increase the chances of catching some nasty threats from fake ads, misleading links or phishing attacks. Therefore, what we usually advise our readers who want to stay on the safer side is to uninstall this software from the computer as soon as it hijacks their web browser. The best way to do that is to go for automatic removal using a reliable anti-malware tool such as the professional Adult.yourblocksite.com removal tool posted here or a manual Removal Guide like the one below.
