Extra Browser

The Extra Browser Virus may be the cause of annoying pop up messages.

When encountered with a browser hijacker/page-redirect app, most users tend to get overly concerned that their PC has gotten infected by some malicious malware piece – a nasty program the likes of a Ransomware, a Spyware or a Trojan Horse virus. However, the truth is that a hijacker isn’t really something all that dangerous. Though hijackers can be annoying since they tend to spam the user’s browser with different page redirects and ads and sometimes even alter the starting page URL and the default search engine of the browser, apps that belong to this software category are normally not intended to cause harm to the computers they get installed on. In fact, oftentimes one might mistake a hijacker for a regular browser app and willfully allow the software component to get installed on their Safari, Chrome or Firefox browser or on whatever other browsing program there is on the computer. However, as we said above, once installed on the computer, the hijacker is likely going to initiate certain activities and make certain changes to the browser that the user might find unpleasant and invasive.

If you have done it right a dialog box titled Force Quit Applications will open up.

In this new dialog window select Safari, then press the Force Quit button, then confirm with Force Quit again.
