File Rep Malware
A typical trait of most viruses like File Rep Malware is that they tend to infiltrate one’s PC in a stealthy way that enables them to stay unnoticed for long periods of time. For instance, one common way for a File Rep Malware to infiltrate a user’s computer is when the malware is presented to the victim in the form of a seemingly harmless piece of software. It could be some random file or maybe even an online update request. Once the file/request is executed, the virus infects the machine but even then it is common for the user to remain unaware of the malware’s presence. As we said, Trojans can be really sneaky which is one of the main reasons behind their great success and popularity among hackers.
What can Trojans do?
Here are the most common and dangerous things this type of noxious programs can be used for.
- Many viruses that belong to the Trojan Horse category might be able to directly harm the system of your computer. There are a number of ways they can do that – they might cause freezes and slow-downs, Blue Screen crashing, they can corrupt system data and Registry entries and in some cases, the machine might even be made unable to load into Windows.
- The next common use of such viruses is espionage. Here, the malware might try to determine your online accounts’ credentials by monitoring your keystrokes and it might also spy on your computer’s screen by taking snapshots. Furthermore, some such infections have also been reported to take over the personal webcam of the user in order to directly stalk the targeted victim.
- The third use of Trojans that we will mention here is serving as a backdoor for other malware programs. For instance, once a Trojan Horse like FileRepMalware invades your machine, it might load some nasty Ransomware virus which would then lock-up your files with a complex encryption and ask you to pay a certain amount of money if you want the decryption key for the sealed data.
- The last use of Trojans we are going to mention here is when the malware forces the infected PC to carry out certain tasks that would profit the cyber criminal. Two of the most popular such tasks are cryptocurrency mining and sending out spam messages to other unfortunate users.
Our advice for you
You need to bear in mind that detecting Trojans is oftentimes very difficult if you don’t have a reliable antivirus/anti-malware program on your PC. Therefore, if you currently don’t have one, consider investing into such a program.
Also, in order to ensure the future safety of your machine, make sure that you keep away from anything that you see on the Internet which can be considered questionable and potentially dangerous. One of the most common reasons why users get their computers infected by various types of malware is their lack of care when browsing the World Wide Web. Do not make that mistake and always keep an eye out for shady sites, spam messages, misleading and fake web ads and fishy browser requests so that you could avoid interacting with them.
