Some of the first signs that such an app has been installed in the browser are the modifications that most hijackers tend to introduce to the starting page and/or the search engine of the affected browser. Those are usually introduced in order to increase the amount of advertising content that is spammed on the browser’s screen. Speaking of the affected browser, this could be pretty much any type of browser. Even though we said that this is a Safari hijacker, it is not excluded that you could get it on Chrome or Firefox as long as you are using them on a Mac computer.

Info Search for Mac

Info Search for Mac is a browser attachment that experts deem browser-hijacking malware due to its aggressive advertising behavior. Info Search for Mac will alter some of the browser’s settings as soon as it gets installed and then start to display ads without the user’s permission.

The main goal of browser hijackers like this one is to generate income from paid ads and site promotions. The owners of the advertised products and sites pay commission to the people behind the hijackers who, in return, use the advertising software to provide promoting services. Here, remuneration models such as Pay-Per-Click or Pay-Per-View are very popular as they allow ad clicks and site visits to quickly translate into small amounts of income earned by the owners of the advertising app. All of this, however, typically comes at the expense of the end-users’ undisturbed online experience, as they are the ones forced to sit through endless showers of aggressive ads and obstructive site redirects that pop up all the time while you are using the browser.

What is Info Search?

Info Search is an unwanted app that is able to impose unwanted changes on your browser and then start opening sites you may not want to visit. Info Search usually gets installed in the computer alongside other programs that seem more desirable to the user.

This distribution method is mainly known as file bundling and it is oftentimes used to spread applications and programs that most users wouldn’t really want to install. Obviously, this is a very effective way of distributing undesirable software such as browser hijackers. Here, the key to avoiding getting hijackers installed in this way is simple – all you need to do is avoid unreliable download sources and software developers. It’s best if you stick to Apple’s app store when downloading new applications as this gives you the highest level of security.

The InfoSearch app

The InfoSearch app is a browser-hijacking software designed to get installed inside Mac browsers, where it can cause page redirects and generate aggressive ads. The InfoSearch app needs to be removed as its ads may potentially expose you to dangerous threats, including Trojans, Spyware, and Ransomware.

The hijacker app itself isn’t as dangerous as a Trojan horse virus or a Ransomware infection but if you keep it on your Mac for long, it may eventually send you to unreliable and illegal sites that may contain such threats. Therefore, you should uninstall this app and remove the alterations it has made in the browser so that you can make your Mac safe again.
