Maftask is categorized as an adware by security experts. Maftask is known to cause browser redirects and different pop-up advertisements in addition to security vulnerabilities.

Maftask on Mac

Applications such as Maftask Virus may at first glance look like some dangerous pieces of software. However, the way they operate, despite being quite annoying, us typically not supposed to harm any computer. Such applications are normally classified as Browser hijackers and their most typical behavior is related to the aggressive promotion of certain websites, toolbars, products, services, homepages, search engines and the generation of some automatic page-redirects which may land you on different sponsored web locations.

Maftask is on Mac

Researchers have labeled Maftask as a mac adware. Maftask are known to cause mac users website redirects, intrusive advertisements and even phishing attempts.

All these activities may typically happen on the screen of your default browser during your web surfing sessions. Maftask Virus and other similar software could easily “infiltrate” any popular browser including Chrome, Explorer, Edge, Firefox, etc. and could impose some annoying changes on their settings such as the installation of a new toolbar, a custom search engine or a new homepage domain.

Maftask targets Apple devices

Theoretically Maftask can infect other Apple devices aside from Macs. Commonly however, Maftask’s creators don’t target iPhones for their purposes.

Oftentimes, you may not be asked for approval of these changes and may be forced to use the newly imposed components by default. What is more, the browser hijacker may not provide you with an option to uninstall or remove the undesirable browser changes and get your settings back to normal. That’s why, if you want to get rid of this software, you may need to either use a professional removal tool (such as the Maftask Virus removal tool on this page) or a manual removal guide. On this page, you can find both and choose the method that works best in your case. That’s why, we suggest you stay with us and read on the information that follows.

A dangerous virus or a simple browser irritation?

The first thing that you would probably like to know if you face an application like Maftask Virus on your PC is how dangerous this software could be. That’s why, to your relief, we will say that Browser hijackers, in general, are not identical to computer viruses and nasty threats such as Ransomware, Trojans or Spyware.

The Browser hijackers may become part of your system in many ways – mostly when you are installing application bundles, automatic updates or freeware packages without customizing their setup configurations. But the good news is, these applications usually cannot cause serious system damage, file encryption, theft of data or similar criminal activities. Typically, at their worst, the hijackers could redirect the users to different promotional web locations and modify their browser settings. But in order to call them computer viruses, they should contain real malicious code and should be able to perform some actual crime. Luckily, hijackers are usually not like that and their purpose typically differs from the purpose of an actual piece of malware. Therefore, we do not consider applications like Maftask Virus as high-risk computer threats.

Why are applications like Maftask Virus created in the first place?

With the increased use of the Internet, everything business-oriented moves to the web space and, logically, so do the advertisements for those businesses. Different products, services, apps, websites, and tools are nowadays promoted right on the screen of the users while they are browsing. Applications like Maftask Virus make this possible because they are created to generate and display all sorts of commercial messages, offers, promotions and sales directly through the browser. As we said above, such browser hijackers can get inside any browsing program and make it operate as an aggressive ad-broadcasting tool, which fills the screen with ads, pop-ups, banners and automatic page-redirect links of all kinds. Such an online advertising practice does not violate actually violate the law. This benefits the developers of advertising applications like Maftask Virus and the manufacturers of products and services who need to have their stuff advertised. The former are usually paid on a Pay-Per-Click basis for displaying sponsored ads with their software, while the latter get exposure, clicks, and traffic to their sites. The users, however, are the ones that are left to deal with the irritation, the redirects and the browser changes which are mostly highly intrusive.

Ways to remove Maftask Virus safely and effectively?

Fortunately, there is a quick and effective way to remove the unwanted browser hijacker from the system and you don’t need to be a computer expert to do that. The uninstallation process is not as complicated as dealing with a Ransomware or a Trojan-based virus. That’s why, in most of the cases, if you strictly follow the manual Removal Guide on this page, you should be able to handle the hijacker effectively. Another fast and risk-free method to get rid of the page-redirecting software and all of its search engines, toolbars and homepages is to use a professional removal tool which can scan the system and delete the ad-generating components automatically. If Maftask Virus is causing you intolerable disturbance, choose the method that you feel more comfortable with and use it to eliminate the nagging app.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

The first thing you need to do is to Quit Safari (if it is opened). If you have trouble closing it normally, you may need to Force Quit Safari:

You can choose the Apple menu and click on Force Quit.

Alternatively you can simultaneously press (the Command key situated next to the space bar), Option (the key right next to it) and Escape (the key located at the upper left corner of your keyboard).

If you have done it right a dialog box titled Force Quit Applications will open up.

In this new dialog window select Safari, then press the Force Quit button, then confirm with Force Quit again.

Close the dialog box/window.

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

If you want to avoid the risk, we recommend downloading SpyHunter
