Are browser hijackers dangerous?
A browser hijacker is a special piece of software which, unlike computer threats such as Ransomware, Spyware or nasty Trojan viruses, does not intend to harm your computer or mess with your privacy in a malicious way. Yet, a lot of web users do not really understand the nature of this software and often mistake it for a nasty virus infection. The reason is, once in the computer, a hijacker could show some very strange, unexpected and questionable features. It could mess with the browser settings and install some new components (just as we mentioned above), flood the screen with hard-to-remove ads or redirect the users’ searches to some sponsored web locations.

What is more, this software may be using the history records of your browser in order to display ads that you might be interested in. Oload.cc “virus”, for instance, typically operates this way and thus, has been reported as a source of browsing irritation and disturbance by a number of people. Still, even if the hijacker is really getting on your nerves, this is not enough to classify it as a serious computer threat which can match the maliciousness of a Trojan-based virus or a nasty Ransomware infection. The reason is, this software operates as an online advertising tool which really doesn’t do anything harmful to the system (no file corruption, data theft, encryption, deletion or initiation of cyber attacks and so on). In fact, the development and distribution of applications like Oload.cc is mostly legitimate and many online-based businesses benefit from using the services provided by such apps in order to promote their websites and products directly on the users’ screen.
What are the typical ways to land a browser hijacker?
The Internet is full of applications which may try to promote different things to you while you are browsing. Normally, such applications are distributed for free and are available to download in many web locations. Oftentimes, ad-generating and page-redirecting applications could be found inside torrents and software bundles. Shareware platforms, freeware platforms and other free download pages may also contain such applications and may offer them to the users as additional components to some attractive games, software updates, browser add-ons, optimization tools, audio/video players, converters, etc.
In most of the cases, the installation of the browser hijacker happens due to a lack of attention within the user. When users download a new program installer and run it, they tend to overlook its customization settings and simply click on next until they finally install the program. This is a very wrong way of performing a software installation because not only may it land you some potentially unwanted application like Oload.cc “Virus”, but it may also install hidden threats and unwanted changes to your system settings. For this reason, what we always advise our readers is to carefully select the sources of their new software and to pay attention during the installation. The main thing to remember if you want to install any application on your PC is to read the EULA and use the Advanced/Custom/Manual installation options. We sincerely advise you to avoid the Standard/Quick/Automatic installation features because they cannot give you details about and control over any additionally bundled components.
Uninstalling Oload.cc “Virus” in a safe way:
