Web.bwanet.ca Virus

This page aims to help you remove Web.bwanet.ca. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

Web.bwanet.ca

Web.bwanet.ca is a form of unwanted software that installs in the main browser and redirects it to ad-filled sites. Web.bwanet.ca also tries to learn about the user’s preferences by looking at their browsing history in order to later show more relevant ads.

Web.bwanet.ca

The Web.bwanet.ca Virus will redirect your browser when you try to enter a website.

The browser hijacker category of software is a type of malware associated with unwanted display of ads in the browser and frequent page-redirects to sites with questionable content. Most hijackers don’t harm the computer they are on but could still cause major disruptions in the user’s regular browsing activities, which is why they are seen as potentially unwanted software. You can get a hijacker installed in almost every browser, with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari being the most common targets of such apps.

The Web.bwanet.ca Virus

Web.bwanet.ca is referred to by some security researchers as a browser hijacker due to its intrusive behaviour in the browser where it’s installed. While Web.bwanet.ca isn’t a dangerous app per se, it does indeed possess some unpleasant characteristics that are common among the representatives of the browser hijacker category.

Once inside the user’s browser, a hijacker would typically set a new homepage address and also replace the current search engine with one that would favor certain promoted sites in its search results. Some users may not pay too much attention to the activities of the hijacker, but most people typically get quite aggravated by the frequent redirects, the modified search results, and the unwanted changes in the browser’s settings. What’s even more frustrating is the fact you typically cannot restore your preferred browser settings because the hijacker wouldn’t allow you to do that. That is why the only way out usually is to uninstall the unwanted app, thus ending its reign over the system’s main browser.

What is Web.bwanet.ca?

Web.bwanet.ca is an unwanted software of the browser hijacker category and its primary task is to interfere with your browser by changing your home page or redirecting your web searches. When installed on the targeted browser, Web.bwanet.ca can display pop-up ads on every webpage and keep track of user searches.

Even if Web.bwanet.ca won’t harm your files or encrypt them like a Ransomware, it is still better for the overall safety of your system to have it uninstalled. One of the biggest problems with this sort of apps is that they may sometimes show you ads or redirect you to sites that aren’t particularly safe. Oftentimes hackers “steal” legitimate ads and turn them into malvertisements that spread all sorts of software hazards, including Trojans, Spyware, Worms, and the infamous Ransomware. If you don’t want to get exposed to any such threats, we advise you to follow our uninstallation instructions that you will find below and remove the hijacker that’s in your computer with their help. And if you need additional assistance, the tool linked within the removal instructions can greatly quicken up the process of removing the undesirable software.

If you don’t want any hijacker apps in the future, it is important to only download verified software and to only install it using the custom setup settings where you can see if and what added elements there are and uncheck those of them you may not want in your system.

  • Hi, I come here to share with you how I removed the virus “web.bwanet.ca” from Chrome on my SMARTPHONE. I had no help and I searched a solution for so long !! But I finally succeeded.
Then here are the steps to follow :

step 1 – Open CHROME on the smartphone, by default the virus is attached to Chrome and is launched once Chrome is open.

step 2 – in the settings, default settings, open Browser
    google.com is the one selected
I choose another one. For example Bing

step 3 – in the settings, Homepage, specify a new homepage, for example google(.)ca/

step 4 – in the settings, Security and Privacy, Erase browsing data, advances options, I selected ‘browser history’, ‘cookies and site data’, ‘Images and files in cache memory’, ‘site settings’, then erase data

    step 5 – close Chrome.

step 6 – in the settings of the smartphone, Apps, infos on the apps, select Chrome, Storage, empty cache then erase data

step 7 – open Chrome again, normally the virus has gone
Now it is possible to go back to Chrome settings to put back google.com as the default Browser. You can close and open Chrome as often as you want, web.bwanet.ca is not there anymore, Chrome really redirect on google.com

I hope that all this will be useful for you and will help you clearing Chrome of this virus on your Smartphone.

  • It’s on my phone. I think it came with Bell app. Bell in Canada uses Telus SIM cards, they are the same company basically. Corruption is rampant in Canada. I still have not been able to remove bwanet

      • I’m using a moto g pure android 12. I also cannot log out of Gmail or Google account. Google is crap now. It is a maze of nonsense to unsubscribe advertising and permissions. I am venting but it’s such a rats nest now.
