Next, press CTRL, SHIFT and ESC keys from the keyboard and look at the Processes tab in Task Manager to see what is on there.

Search for processes that are named after Freychang.fun or have other unusual names and use a lot of RAM and CPU.

Next, open System Configuration by typing msconfig in the windows search field and pressing the Enter key. In the new window, select the Startup tab and take a look at what’s in it:

Here, you’ll need to use the WinKey and R key combination to launch a Run command window. Then, carefully copy the command below in the Run box and click OK:

Scroll the text of the Hosts file and search specifically for IP addresses that look suspicious. Head to Localhost and check what’s under. Add any suspicious IP addresses found in the file under “Localhost” to the comments section at the end of this article, and we’ll tell you if any of those IPs are bad, so you can remove them from the file.

Find Network Connections by typing it in the Windows search field. Then, follow the steps below to set up your DNS settings.

1. Right-click on the Network Adapter you are using right now, then click on Properties.
2. As soon as you do that, choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (ICP/IP) from the new window and click Properties at the bottom of the window.
3. In step 3, check if the DNS line is set to Obtain DNS server address automatically. If it isn’t, select it and click on Advanced.
4. Make sure there isn’t anything suspicious listed in the DNS field. If so, delete it and click OK on each open window to save your changes.

During this step, you’ll need to look for hijacker-related signs in each of the browsers that you have on your computer. To do that, right-click on the browser’s shortcut icon, then click on the option that says Properties.

Then, choose Shortcut from the tabs at the top of the window. Remove anything after “.exe” in the Target text field. Then click OK.

Next, start the hijacked browser, click on its main menu icon (usually in the top right corner). Then, click on More Tools or Add-ons, depending on which browser you’ve selected. After that, go to Extensions and then click on it. See if you can find anything unusual or connected to Freychang.fun in the list of Extensions and Add-ons that you look at. Make sure that the extensions you don’t want to keep are disabled, and then click on the Remove/Trash bin button to remove them.

Go to the browser’s main menu once again, choose Settings (or Options) and then choose Privacy/Privacy and Security from the panel on the left. Then, click on “Clear browsing history/data”. If there are Advanced options, click on them. It’s then time to check off every box except the one for your passwords and click the Clear/Clear data button to confirm your action.

This action will clean up traces of pages that Freychang.fun has loaded in the browser.

In the final step, you’ll need to access the Registry Editor and search it for Freychang.fun-related entries.

The quickest way to do that is to type Regedit in the Windows search field. Then, click on the result to open the Registry Editor. To use regedit.exe, you’ll need to be logged as an admin. If you get a prompt, choose “Yes.”

Once the Registry Editor opens, use Ctrl + F to open a Find window. Next, type in the name of the browser hijacker, then click Find Next. Carefully remove any results that show up in the list. Search again, remove the next item, and so on until results for Freychang.fun no longer show up.

Next, go to the left side of the Registry Editor and check the following places manually:

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random Directory.
