The Optimum Search Virus

Optimum Search is an unwanted app that is known for changing the browser’s homepage to https://search.optimum.icu and triggering sudden redirects to Search.optimum.icu and other unfamiliar websites. The Optimum Search virus can be described as a browser hijacker and its presence in the computer is undesirable as it may cause potential security issues.

Optimum Search

The Optimum Search Virus will redirect your searches

If you have recently realized that this app has nested itself inside your Firefox, Chrome, Edge, or another browser you prefer to use, then it is time to learn more about the specifics of this unwelcome piece of software as well about the steps you’d need to take in order to remove it.

We already mentioned that this app changes the homepage of the browser and causes automatic page redirects but this is hardly everything it does. Other things hijackers like this one are known for are replacement of the default search engine, generation of aggressive and, sometimes, misleading ads, changes in the toolbar, and even tracking of the user’s browsing history. Now, none of this may sound like a particularly serious issue, and, when examined separately, it may indeed not be. However, when combined, all of these little changes and modifications in the behavior and settings of your browser could quickly lead to more serious problems. In order to prevent those more serious problems from ever taking place, it’s advisable to remove the Optimum Search hijacker as soon as possible (and we will help you do it!).

The Optimum Search Extension

The Optimum Search Virus is a cause of a sheer irritation for the user while the latter is surfing the Internet. The Optimum Search Virus causes ads, sudden page redirects, browser changes that make it more difficult to use the browser can all be quite unpleasant to anyone who needs to use their browsing program on a regular basis. However, these aren’t the potential problems that a browser hijacker may cause we are referring to.

The real issue with apps like the Optimum Search extension isn’t what they, themselves, could do on your computer, but what online content they might expose you to. Even if the Optimum Search extension doesn’t have the ability to harm your computer, the fact that its ads and redirects may eventually land you on sites that try to scam you or that distribute Trojans, Ransomware, and other viruses is a good enough reason to uninstall the hijacker ASAP and remove all of the changes it has imposed on your browser.

A lot of the products, sites, and services that apps of the browser hijacker category promote aren’t of particularly high quality or particularly reliable. Sadly, some of the promoted sites and products may even be linked to more harmful programs such as Trojans, spyware, worms, viruses, Ransomware, and so on. Also, some of the sites you may get redirected to by Optimum Search virus may try to trick you into believing that your computer has been infected by a dangerous malware threat and that the only way to secure your system is if you download some obscure app offered by the site. Of course, this is an obvious scam, but there are many inexperienced users who may fall for it.

  • hi, about a week ago my search engine went to optimum search. I’ve been trying to delete it from the extensions but it wont work. I tried getting rid of it many times but I kept giving up. I told my dad and my brother, but they cant do it either. I did so many googling, youtubing, but non of it helped. I don’t know what happened. I’m getting frustrated that it’s not going to google when I want it to. Has anyone dealt with this problem and got rid of it. if so please give me some tips and tricks on how to do it.

ps- this is on my home laptop, NOT MY SCHOOL ONE.
