Rilide is a browser-redirecting software that is considered to be unwanted because some of the sites it promotes may not be safe for one’s computer. Rilide takes over different settings of the browser and manipulates the starting page and the search engine to reroute your traffic while browsing.

The Rilide Malware

A browser hijacker such as, for example, the recently reported the Rilide malware is not a software piece to be afraid of – it doesn’t have any malicious or crime-intended abilities and unlike Trojans, Spyware, Ransomware and other similar threats, the likelihood of it actually causing any serious issues to your computer is rather low. Still, most researchers regard the Rilide malware as potentially unwanted and categorize it as a browser hijacker due to its ability to “infiltrate” popular browsing programs the likes of Edge, Chrome or Firefox and to spam the with page-redirects and ads as well as tinker with their settings and with some of their components (such as the addresses for the homepage and the search engine, the toolbar buttons, the search engine tool that is set as default and so on).

Since our job is to help our readers deal with different kind of software issues and since the presence of Rilide Extension or Index for Captchas inside a given computer is normally considered such an issue, we’ve made sure to provide you with an article inside of which we give some important info on the abilities of Rilide Extension as well as a reliable way of uninstalling this app and keeping it away from your system in the days to come.

How to get rid of Rilide Extension on FF/Edge/etc.

  1. Open the browser and select the menu icon.
  2. From the menu, click on the Add-ons button.
  3. Look for the Rilide Extension extension
  4. Get rid of Rilide Extension by removing it from extensions

If using Firefox:

  • Open Firefox
  • Select the three parallel lines menu and go to Add-ons.
  • Find the unwanted add-on and delete it from the browser – if there is more than one unwanted extension, remove all of them.
  • Go to the browser menu again, select Options, and then click on Home from the sidebar to the left.
  • Check the current addresses for the browser’s homepage and new-tab page and change them if they are currently set to address(es) you don’t know or trust.

If using MS Edge/IE:

  • Select the browser menu and go to Extensions.
  • Find and uninstall any Edge extensions that look undesirable and unwanted.
  • Select Settings from the browser menu and click on Appearance.
  • Check the new-tab page address of the browser and if it has been modified by “Rilide Extension” or another unwanted app, change it to an address that you’d want to be the browser’s new-tab page.

How to Delete Rilide Extension

  1. Open task manager
  2. Look for the Rilide Extension process
  3. Select it and click on End task
  4. Open the file location to delete Rilide Extension
  • Access the Task Manager by pressing together the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys and then selecting Task Manager.
  • Open Processes and there try to find a process with the name of the unwanted software. If you find it, select it with the right button of the mouse and click on the Open File Location option.
  • If you don’t see a “Rilide Extension” process in the Task Manager, look for another suspicious process with an unusual name. It is likely that the unwanted process would be using lots of RAM and CPU so pay attention to the number of resources each process is using.
  • Tip: If you think you have singled out the unwanted process but are not sure, it’s always a good idea to search for information about it on the Internet – this should give you a general idea if the process is a legitimate one from a regular program or from your OS or if it is indeed likely linked to the adware.
  • If you find another suspicious process, open its File Location too.
  • Once in the File Location folder for the suspicious process, start testing all of the files that are stored there by dragging them to our free online scanner available below.
  • Each file will be scanned with up to 64 antivirus programs to ensure maximum accuracy

    What is Rilide Chrome Extension?

First and foremost, what we need to tell you about Rilide Extension and Apps extension is what it’s “mission” actually is. Some users think of it as an useful app (since this is how many hijackers are initially promoted) while others may mistake it for some nasty virus program or some malicious Trojan or Ransomware infection. The truth, however, is that Rilide Extension is neither of those things. It is instead an advertising tool that tries to spam you with ads in every way it can and in that way make more money for its creators. Understandably, you likely want to get rid of this annoyance and the next instructions will help you remove and uninstall everything related to the hijacker.

    Is Rilide Extension dangerous?

Users should know just how dangerous some of the less-reliable ads and commercial messages on the Internet could be. They could be a source of all kinds of hazards – misleading offers that try to trick you into purchasing overpriced products or products with questionable quality, phishing pages linked to the ads you see in your browser and even some sites that may be illegal and used to infect users with malware. All in all, you really need to be careful with the intrusive online content that may get spammed on your screen. Obviously, the fact that a hijacker app is in your PC greatly increases the risk of clicking on some sketchy and unsafe advert or banner which is why you should be twice as careful while the unwanted software is still operational. Also, this is why it’s such an important thing that you ensure to quickly remove the hijacker without allowing you to further spam you with its obstructive and invasive ads, page-redirects, pop-ups, pop-unders and so the browser.on.
