Taskbarify is a malicious Trojan horse virus that poses a significant threat to the security and privacy of affected systems. The threat is often linked to other undesirable software, including SSoption, Web Companion, and Estimate Speed Up, and might get distributed alongside them. In addition to its primary goal of stealing sensitive information, such as online banking credentials and credit card details, Taskbarify also has the ability to record keystrokes, compromising any information entered on the infected machine. This data is then surreptitiously transmitted to the attackers’ remote servers, facilitating identity theft, financial fraud, and unauthorized access to personal accounts. Trojan horse viruses like this one often infiltrate systems disguised as legitimate files or software, deceiving users into unwittingly executing them.

Even after removing Taskbarify, it may continue to persist in the startup programs, making it challenging to pinpoint its file location.

What is Taskbarify?

Taskbarify is a Trojan Horse virus that poses a serious danger to any system it infects, hence it must be eliminated ASAP. Trojans like it account for approximately 70% of all malicious attacks that occur in the digital realm. If you have landed on this page, chances are your computer has been compromised as well, and you are now looking for a way to resolve the problem. Taskbarify, Altruistics, and other similar Trojans, are adept at remaining hidden within systems for prolonged periods, often months or even years. Identifying the presence of the threat is the crucial first step toward addressing the issue. In the comprehensive removal guide below, you will find step-by-step instructions on how to find and eliminate from your system any Trojan Horse components and settings.

Also, be aware that this malicious program can be related and/or distributed together with potentially unwanted software, such as the RAV Antivirus, RAV VPN, and Safer Web. These three aren’t as threatening or problematic, but can still have undesirable effects on your system, so if you notice them, it’s best to delete them as well.

Is Taskbarify a virus?

Taskbarify is a special type of virus, which belongs to the Trojan Horse category and is known to automatically install itself on the victim’s computer even when the user chooses to “cancel” the installation. The Taskbarify virus then adds itself to the Startup apps list in order to ensure it gets launched every time the computer is started. This, along other changes that this Trojan makes in the system, ensures that the threat is able to operate undisturbed for extended periods of time. The specific purpose of this threat can be flexible and depend on the goal of the rogue actors who are using it. It can be used to expose you to virtual scams, to gather your data, to exploit the system’s resources for nefarious purposes, and more.

Step1 Uninstall the Taskbarify app and kill its processes

The first thing you must try to do is look for any sketchy installs on your computer and uninstall anything you think may come from Taskbarify. After that, you’ll also need to get rid of any processes that may be related to the unwanted app by searching for them in the Task Manager.

Note that sometimes an app, especially a rogue one, may ask you to install something else or keep some of its data (such as settings files) on your PC – never agree to that when trying to delete a potentially rogue software. You need to make sure that everything is removed from your PC to get rid of the malware. Also, if you aren’t allowed to go through with the uninstallation, proceed with the guide, and try again after you’ve completed everything else.

  • Uninstalling the rogue app
  • Killing any rogue processes

Type Apps & Features in the Start Menu, open the first result, sort the list of apps by date, and look for suspicious recently installed entries.

Click on anything you think could be linked to Taskbarify, then select uninstall, and follow the prompts to delete the app.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, click More Details (if it’s not already clicked), and look for suspicious entries that may be linked to Taskbarify.

This can enable the malware to stay on the computer or automatically reinstall itself after you’ve seemingly deleted it. Therefore, you need to check the following elements by going to the Start Menu, searching for specific system elements that may have been affected, and pressing Enter to open them and see if anything has been changed there without your approval. Then you must undo any unwanted changes made to these settings in the way shown below:
